fandomhigh | Fandom High Graduation Ceremony Class of 2007 Part I

The sun was shining high in the sky above the front lawn (not that this would matter to certain members of the audience since there was a nice awning and shaded pathways). A stage was set up with a podium and several seats for the administration and guests. Off to the side of the stage, a guitar for musical performances.

In front of the stage, blue and gold chairs were set for the largest graduating class in Fandom High history (not that it was a tough record to achieve), and to either side of those chairs were bleachers for students, family, friends, alumni, and residents of the town of Fandom who wanted to wtiness this event.

It was a beautiful day for a graduation.

Karen, who lived close enough to Canada that she knew a Mountie when she saw one, said, "I do believe she's talked about you once or twice. It's too bad you weren't here when Sharon came to visit."

On the phone, Sharon said "..."

"Sharon?" Fraser asked. "Is she from Canada?"

"I AM NOT FROM CANADA!" Sharon protested.

"No, she's in New York. She had to work and miss her sister's graduation," Karen said. "She really works too much. If only she had a reason to work less."

"And you have a reason in mind?" Fraser asked. He was kinda dumb.

"MOM NO."

"Do you go through New York often?" Karen wondered.

"I've been there before, yes," Fraser said. "Very nice city."

"We're in Niagara Falls, actually," said Darrin.

"Niagra Falls," Fraser said. "Beautiful landmark. Your entire family lives there?"

"We do," said Karen. "Including Sharon, who lives on her own. Completely unattached."

"Is she usually attached to something?"

"DON'T LISTEN TO THEM, HOT MOUNTIE. I AM FINE ON MY OWN. REALLY."

Fraser frowned. And then looked at Jaye's parents. "She's told you about that name, has she?"

"She may have mentioned it," Karen said diplomatically.

He suppressed a laugh and then looked down at the phone. "Are you sure? I've got quite a few Mountie friends, after all."

"Does the school really need that much Canadian security?" Darrin wondered.

"No sir, but if your daughter is interested in Mounties, I'm a fountain of information."

"WHAT THE HELL, I NEVER SAID I WAS INTERESTED IN MOUNTIES! MOM, DID YOU TELL HIM I WAS INTERESTED IN MOUNTIES? BECAUSE I'M NOT."

"You don't like Mounties?"

"I DON'T NOT LIKE MOUNTIES... LOOK, I AM AMBIVALENT TOWARDS MOUNTIES IN A PERSONAL SENSE, OKAY?"

"I'm a very nice Mountie." Fraser's time in Fandom might've given him a small, small mischievous streak.

"See, Sharon, you should listen to the very nice Mountie," said Karen.

"OH MY GOD."

"If you were here today, perhaps you'd be able to see how nice Mounties are."

"...I'M PUTTING YOU ALL ON HOLD."

The Muzak version of 'It's Not Unusual' plays over the phone.

Fraser stood up and beamed at the Tylers. "Maybe she likes me?"

"I think so," Karen smiled.
