Fandom High Graduation Ceremony Class of 2007 Part I - Saturday Afternoon

The sun was shining high in the sky above the front lawn (not that this would matter to certain members of the audience since there was a nice awning and shaded pathways). A stage was set up with a podium and several seats for the administration and guests. Off to the side of the stage, a guitar for musical performances.

In front of the stage, blue and gold chairs were set for the largest graduating class in Fandom High history (not that it was a tough record to achieve), and to either side of those chairs were bleachers for students, family, friends, alumni, and residents of the town of Fandom who wanted to wtiness this event.

It was a beautiful day for a graduation.

[OOC: Please wait for OCD. You're good to go! This post is mostly for audience mingling, general graduation stuff, and such. Look for Part II with your standard Fandom Surprise early this afternoon.

It'll be kind of hard to miss the events of the second post, so you might want to hold off an any post-graduation posts for a while to avoid being Jossed.]

"Drinking? No -- no!" Anders blurted out indignantly. "You think I'd show up at graduation drunk? I wouldn't do that to Ph --"

Okay, Anders, time to shut up.

"Do that to whom?" Grams said sharply.

Oh, frak frak frakkity frak.

"Friends," Anders said weakly. "To my friends. 'cause there's a lot of them graduating today and all . . . yeah."

Re: Welcome!

"Do you know my granddaughter Phoebe?" Grams asked.

"I . . . do, yeah," Anders said slowly.

Not getting into, you know, how well. Or in what sense.

"I'm very proud of her," Grams said. "What is your name, young man?"

Re: Welcome!

He coughed. "Um. Anders. Samuel Anders."

Re: Welcome!

[identity profile] pennyhalliwell.livejournal.com 2007-05-05 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm Penny Halliwell," Grams said. "How well do you know Phoebe?"

Anders kind of wanted to cry. "I like to think we're pretty good friends," he allowed cautiously.

Re: Welcome!

[identity profile] pennyhalliwell.livejournal.com 2007-05-05 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"I see," Grams said. "How long have you known her?"

Re: Welcome!

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-05-05 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Um, since we both got here the other year? Though I didn't really get to know her that well until this year . . ."

Re: Welcome!

[identity profile] pennyhalliwell.livejournal.com 2007-05-05 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"And where did you come from, Samuel?" Grams asked curiously.

Re: Welcome!

"Delphi?" offered Anders. "On the planet Caprica, in the Twelve Colonies of Kobol?"

Re: Welcome!

[identity profile] pennyhalliwell.livejournal.com 2007-05-05 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're from another planet?" Grams said, a little surprised by that.

Re: Welcome!

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-05-05 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yup." Anders pointed off in some random direction in the sky. "Out there somewhere."

Re: Welcome!

[identity profile] pennyhalliwell.livejournal.com 2007-05-05 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Interesting," Grams said. "Tell me, do you know Belthazor -- Cole -- whatever he's calling himself now?"

Re: Welcome!

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-05-05 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, did he ever.

"Yeah . . . he's one of my best friends, actually," Anders said carefully.

Re: Welcome!

[identity profile] pennyhalliwell.livejournal.com 2007-05-05 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"Really now," Grams said, looking Anders over. "Has he been keeping himself out of trouble?"

Re: Welcome!

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-05-05 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, yeah," Anders assured her. "He's been too busy to get into trouble lately. But he's even learned to share and everything."

And then he mentally facepalmed.

Re: Welcome!

[identity profile] pennyhalliwell.livejournal.com 2007-05-05 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Learned to share?" Grams said, raising her eyebrow again.

Re: Welcome!

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-05-05 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
One of these days, Anders would learn when to shut up.

Today was not that day.

"You know, like all the good kids do?"

Re: Welcome!

[identity profile] pennyhalliwell.livejournal.com 2007-05-05 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"He'd better be being good," Grams sniffed. "If he ever hurts my granddaughter, I don't care if he's human now, I will vanquish him."

Re: Welcome!

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-05-05 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
NO. NO VANQUISHING THE DEMON BOYFRIEND.

"He's way more than good," Anders assured her hastily. "He's really good."

. . . oops, the wrong sort of tone might have crept in there.

Re: Welcome!

[identity profile] pennyhalliwell.livejournal.com 2007-05-05 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Which Grams did not miss. "What did you say?" she said.

Re: Welcome!

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-05-05 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Anders went bug-eyed for just a moment. "Just that he's a good guy now," he stammered. "Honest."
