The sun was shining high in the sky above the front lawn (not that this would matter to certain members of the audience since there was a nice awning and shaded pathways). A stage was set up with a podium and several seats for the administration and guests. Off to the side of the stage, a guitar for musical performances.

In front of the stage, blue and gold chairs were set for the largest graduating class in Fandom High history (not that it was a tough record to achieve), and to either side of those chairs were bleachers for students, family, friends, alumni, and residents of the town of Fandom who wanted to wtiness this event.

It was a beautiful day for a graduation.

It'll be kind of hard to miss the events of the second post, so you might want to hold off an any post-graduation posts for a while to avoid being Jossed.]

"Drinking? No -- no!" Anders blurted out indignantly. "You think I'd show up at graduation drunk? I wouldn't do that to Ph --"

Okay, Anders, time to shut up.

"Do that to whom?" Grams said sharply.

Oh, frak frak frakkity frak.

"Friends," Anders said weakly. "To my friends. 'cause there's a lot of them graduating today and all . . . yeah."

"Do you know my granddaughter Phoebe?" Grams asked.

"I . . . do, yeah," Anders said slowly.

Not getting into, you know, how well. Or in what sense.

"I'm very proud of her," Grams said. "What is your name, young man?"

He coughed. "Um. Anders. Samuel Anders."

"I'm Penny Halliwell," Grams said. "How well do you know Phoebe?"

Anders kind of wanted to cry. "I like to think we're pretty good friends," he allowed cautiously.

"I see," Grams said. "How long have you known her?"

"Um, since we both got here the other year? Though I didn't really get to know her that well until this year . . ."

"And where did you come from, Samuel?" Grams asked curiously.

"Delphi?" offered Anders. "On the planet Caprica, in the Twelve Colonies of Kobol?"

"You're from another planet?" Grams said, a little surprised by that.

"Yup." Anders pointed off in some random direction in the sky. "Out there somewhere."

"Interesting," Grams said. "Tell me, do you know Belthazor -- Cole -- whatever he's calling himself now?"

Oh, did he ever.

"Yeah . . . he's one of my best friends, actually," Anders said carefully.

"Really now," Grams said, looking Anders over. "Has he been keeping himself out of trouble?"

"Oh, yeah," Anders assured her. "He's been too busy to get into trouble lately. But he's even learned to share and everything."

And then he mentally facepalmed.

"Learned to share?" Grams said, raising her eyebrow again.

One of these days, Anders would learn when to shut up.

Today was not that day.

"You know, like all the good kids do?"

"He'd better be being good," Grams sniffed. "If he ever hurts my granddaughter, I don't care if he's human now, I will vanquish him."

NO. NO VANQUISHING THE DEMON BOYFRIEND.

"He's way more than good," Anders assured her hastily. "He's really good."

. . . oops, the wrong sort of tone might have crept in there.

Which Grams did not miss. "What did you say?" she said.

Anders went bug-eyed for just a moment. "Just that he's a good guy now," he stammered. "Honest."
