Fandom High Graduation Ceremony Class of 2007 Part I - Saturday Afternoon

The sun was shining high in the sky above the front lawn (not that this would matter to certain members of the audience since there was a nice awning and shaded pathways). A stage was set up with a podium and several seats for the administration and guests. Off to the side of the stage, a guitar for musical performances.

In front of the stage, blue and gold chairs were set for the largest graduating class in Fandom High history (not that it was a tough record to achieve), and to either side of those chairs were bleachers for students, family, friends, alumni, and residents of the town of Fandom who wanted to wtiness this event.

It was a beautiful day for a graduation.

[OOC: Please wait for OCD. You're good to go! This post is mostly for audience mingling, general graduation stuff, and such. Look for Part II with your standard Fandom Surprise early this afternoon.

It'll be kind of hard to miss the events of the second post, so you might want to hold off an any post-graduation posts for a while to avoid being Jossed.]

"Good afternoon," Zoe said, somewhat stoic in her effort to not let her hormones get the best of her, "and welcome to Fandom High's 2007 graduation. It's good to see so many familiar faces in the audience, especially since none of you are students who I was hoping to never see again," she added, smirking. "And it's hard to believe that another year has come and gone so quickly, considering everything that all of you have accomplished in that time, both seniors and non-graduating students alike.

"To all the parents and friends and other family members out there, I just want to say that I hope you're as proud of your seniors as I am. Graduation is a necessary thing, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't sorry to see every one of these students go. As for the seniors...well, you've all been through a lot in your time here. And I don't just mean with the unique visitors that we've had on the island. You're leaving some pretty big shoes to fill, and while I have faith that the rising seniors can get the job done, it's going to be hard to live up to the standards of excellence and insanity that you have all set.

"If there's one thing I've told you guys and girls more than any other group of students, it's been 'For the love of all that's holy and right, don't try to be heroes without adult backup.' Well, I guess I can't really say that any more, can I? You're the adults now, and the world is about to be in your hands, and as much as that thought kind of scares the crap out of me, if there's a group of people who can save the world from its rampant idiocy, it's all of you. I'm very proud of you all, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you accomplish in the future."

There might have been a tear or two in Tori's eyes, once Principal Washburn's speech ended. Maybe.

She clapped loudly, still in awe that she was actually there, graduating.

John wolf whistled.

Aeryn didn't try to be a hero, really! She just... yeah, okay, fine.

She applauds anyway. As principals go, she liked this one.

Cameron was joining John in with the wolf whistling. It seemed the most appropriate response.

Sam saluted in her seat when Zoe was finished. Then she applauded a lot.

The Tyler parents clapped politely. "She seems very nice," Darrin said to his wife, completely ignoring the heroes bit.

"She seems really cool," Ricky whispered loudly to Rayanne. "What do you think she means about the heroes thing?"

Rayanne just shrugged as she scanned the sea of mortarboards for Angela.

"We're heroes!" Sokka exclaimed, loud enough that fellow audience members probably tried to shush him. "What does she mean, 'don't try to be heroes'?!?!?"

Oh, god, it's so terrifying that these people are considered adults now.

Captain Liberty claps anyway, mostly for Zoe.

Katara clapped both for Zoe and for all the seniors.

Luke applauded loudly, giving his father a sidelong glance at the "don't try to be heroes without adult backup" part.

They both knew neither of them had ever followed that.

Peter rolled his eyes at the 'adult backup' part. But he clapped politely anyway.

Josh clapped like the enormous suck-up the caring faculty member he was.

Krycek applauded, wondering if they'd ever even taken into account that some of the "kids" at Fandom would hardly count as "kids" in most places anyway.

Parker grinned, then clapped enthusiastically, kind of la-la-la-ing over the back-up bit. But hey. She learned a lot here. And she liked Principal Zoe.

D may have sniffled a wee bit, but she was upfront, no one but the staff and speakers could see her face in any sort of detail.

Ok, and the person(s) sitting next to her, but, feh, they were probably having it worse than her. Hang over or no.

Alanna let out a sharp whistle before clapping.

Dean grinned and applauded. Zoe was cool and he'd still think that even if she wasn't sleeping with his Dad.

John smiled at the applause as he joined in it. Zoe did good.

John politely clapped, determined to save his world from rampant idiocy.

Sam clapped for Zoe as well. He hoped she'd give speeches that were just as good when he and Dean graduated.

Jack was a bit iffy about parts of the speech, particularly the adult supervision and the heroes bits, but the rest of it was damn impressive, and he clapped and whistled when she finished.

Hamlet applauded Zoe's speech. It was still hard to think of himself as an adult, even a couple weeks after her birthday, but he still tried to take her advice to heart.
