Novice's Guide to Villains and Villainy - Friday, Period 3, Danger Shop

Thursday greeted the students inside the Danger Shop. Her arm was still in a sling.

"Good work last week. While Lord Vizzle lives on, you all performed admirably. This is our final class, and I would imagine the last class of the academic year for all of you. Thank you all for a memorable semester. I'm not teaching over Summer and I'm not certain at this stage if I'll be back in the Fall, so in case this is the last time I see any of you, best wishes for the future. I hope this class has been of some use to you. Let's get on to the final.

Your task is simple: walk through the door and you'll be faced with a villain from literary fiction or popular culture. Defeat them using whatever means necessary. You'll be graded on ingenuity and the effectiveness of your plan, so if you don't succeed in defeating them, it's still possible to obtain a good grade provided your approach is sound. Once you step through the door, there are no rules.

She dodged, but not fast enough. The mop hit her arm and she hissed as the water sizzled her skin, not enough to burn through the cloth but enough to irritate. "You'll pay for that! And by the looks of it, I'll have to do it the old-fashioned way." She threw a heavy book in Isabel's direction.

Shielding would work against the book but it was more fun to catch it with her powers in mid-air and send it back towards the witch. The sizzle was intersting. Isabel looked around for another source of water.

The witch threw the book back again. It was like tennis for library geeks.

Isabel sighed, ducked and the book flew past her. She still had one more exam, it was time to end this so she could get a little more studying in before the Doctor's class. Tucked into a corner, she spotted the bucket that had accompanied the mop. Raising a hand, she sent it careening towards the witch.

What happened next traumtized several generations of young children who then decided long before Jaye Tyler that baths caused plague or, in this case, melting.

The water hit and seared the witch's skin. She screeched. "I'm melting! Meeeeeeeeelting! Oh, what a world! What a woooorld! Ahhhhhhhsdlkjfjsksdlfjdklfj."

"Sorry," Isabel called out, although she really doubted the witch cared at the point. With a shrug, she headed towards the door.

The room returned to normal and Thursday was waiting for Isabel at the door. "Books are not for throwing, even if they're thrown at you first," he said with a hint of humour in her voice. "Well done. You're free to go or you can stay here for the rest of the class."

"So whining she started it won't work?" she laughed. "I understand though. I usually treat my books much better then that. I've actually got one more exam so I'm going to go do some more studying."
