Spy Tech, Final Class (04/25)

Wednesday, April 25, First Period

Students entering the Danger Shop will first encounter a long table covered with heavy white envelopes. Each envelope is stamped TOP SECRET and labeled with a student's name. Technicians begin immediately handing out equipment to the class. M is standing to one side.

"Welcome to your final exam. These envelopes contain your mission briefings. You have each been assigned two targets and two mission objectives. First, eliminate your primary target. Then, isolate your secondary target and retrieve the specified item. Full marks will be given to any student who completes one of the missions, extra credit will be given for completing both.

"My techicians are outfitting you with three items. The first is a gun which fires a non-lethal laser. The second is a lightweight blunt sword. And the third is a vest equipped with special sensors, linked to both a wrist monitor and my own monitors here. These sensors will detect a shot from the laser gun or a hit from the sword. You will not be able to use either weapon to actually injure your classmates, but the wrist monitor will alert you to the sort of damage you could expect to have sustained from any shot or blow. Additionally, I will be watching your progress from the control station.

"Along with the required items you have just been given, you have access to a number of moddable other pieces of espionage equipment. You may outfit yourself with three additional useful tools to take along on your mission, with the exception of additional weapons or any sort of vehicle.

"There are three regions laid out here in the Danger Shop. You may move from region to region, and in fact will most likely have to do so in order to track your targets. The Danger Shop safety protocols will not allow you to become physically injured, but you will be able to interact fully with your surroundings. This means that you may improvise additional weapons or other useful tools, and the vests and monitors will adjust accordingly. Once you have completed the scenario, return the equipment and you may go on your way."

M took a moment to look at each student individually, and then nodded to the assembled group. "It's been an unexpected pleasure to teach this class. An experience I had not thought to enjoy. I wish you all luck in your future pursuits...and hope to God I never see a file on any of you cross my desk."

[OOC: Those of you who signed up to participate should have received an email containing information on your assignments. If you didn't, please tag me in the OOC thread and I'll make sure you get the information. This scenario is entirely dependent on the students playing it out with each other, there are no NPCs. Please keep in mind that you can't mod each other's actions or "injuries", but please also play along -- if another character aims a shot or a blow, play it out as your character would. If M catches anyone not abiding by the rules or the spirit of the game, she'll pull that character aside to have a word with them.

You'll find three OCD threads below, for the three "regions" laid out for use. You are welcome to interact with people other than your assigned targets, but you won't be able to actually "kill" non-target characters. The environment is completely moddable -- I've outlined a basic description below, but feel free to mod appropriate scenery, objects, etc. The only thing that the Danger Shop won't provide for you is additional people. Also, you may choose any three pieces of appropriate equipment to take along for the scenario -- cutting tools, explosives, communication devices, grappling guns, etc. The Danger Shop will provide whatever your character would deem appropriate, just please use common sense.

Please also feel free to email me with any questions at angel.phale @ gmail.com. The post is open for slowplay for as long as you'd like to use it.

This class has been a blast to teach, and hope you've enjoyed it as much as M and I have! Please wait for the OCD is up, have at it! :) ]

Well now, this was just twisted. Anders definitely had to give M props for this.

He kept the barrel of his gun trained in the direction of her voice and felt in his left hip pocket for the iPod he'd stashed there.

"Frakkin' brilliant, seems like."

Hmmmmmm. How to do this... oooo look. Grapple gun. Big trees.

Parker shot the gun upward, got a good hook into the tree, and started to climb.

Time to get a better view on the situation.

Anders thought he spotted something -- he pulled out the infrared binoculars he'd snagged earlier, and started to scan the trees.

"Hello there, Parker."

Re: Region Two: The Forest

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Parker shot at him, aiming for his torso, hoping to do 'damage'. Then shot the grapple at the next tree, starting to fix a line out. "Bang, bang, bang, Daisy!"

Anders tried to dodge the shot, but it got him in the shoulder just as he was aiming a return shot, banking on the second or two it'd take for the grappling line to secure itself. "I love you too, Parker!"

Parker cackled, then cursed as she got 'hit' in the arm. One-arm climb out? She frowned at the line, which slanted downward and away, then wrapped her belt around it, took a breath, and muttered, "Oh, this better not go too fast."

And jumped, one hand hanging onto the belt tightly, sliding through the trees downward to about ten feet off the ground, and crashing into the branches. "Ow..." She stifled herself and hid closer to the trunk. And got her gun out.

Anders couldn't help snickering a little. "Points for style, Parker, but you lose a little something for that landing there."

Re: Region Two: The Forest

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Parker made a face, and crouched down lower, swinging off the branches to hit the ground.

Creep. Creep. Creeeeeeep.

She took a breath. Shot at Anders again. Then zig-zagged in another direction.

Anders managed to dodge the shot this time, but he left the voice recorder he'd handwavily, whee prepped with a tape loop of himself humming "All Along the Watchtower" "It's a Beautiful Day for a Ballgame" playing under the shrubbery as he fired his piton laser gun and monkeyed on up into the trees himself.

Re: Region Two: The Forest

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Parker frowned, then carefully circled around, hearing the humming.

He wasn't moving. Hmmm....

Creep. Creep?

Re: Region Two: The Forest

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Perched overhead on a branch, Anders grinned and watched through his infrared binoculars. He could take her out with a shot now, pretty easily.

Too easily.

So despite all laws of expediency and common sense, he slid back down the grappling line with his sword out, and tapped her on the shoulder, grinning.

"Boo."

Re: Region Two: The Forest

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Parker dived for cover, not even looking in the direction of the "Boo" before she was behind a tree. "Nice, Daisy! I appreciate the mercy!" She took a breath, giggling. "Can we talk about this?"

Re: Region Two: The Forest

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm thinking not," Anders said with a laugh, circling the tree with his sword out and a ridiculously gallant posture. "Got my grade to think about here."

Re: Region Two: The Forest

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Parker shot at him, then drew her own sword, looking gleeful. "Whereas the only percentage for me sticking around is extra credit." She smirked a little. "Maybe if you gave me your watch, I'll let you shoot me." Step, step.

And the sword goes up in the guard position.

Re: Region Two: The Forest

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Tempting, but what do you take me for?" Anders imitated her stance, not having the slightest damn clue what to do with a sword. "I love you and all, Parker, but not quite that much," he teased.

Re: Region Two: The Forest

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Whereas I've had Alanna training me for ten months," Parker said teasingly. "Love you too, Daisy. But think about it-- you really want do this?" Carefully circling away, so she'd be closer to where the iPod was still humming happily away. "Seriously?" Not quite close enough--

Slash!

Re: Region Two: The Forest

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Anders yelped and flinched back out of the way, slashing wildly at her as he did.

. . . he really should've just shot at her from the trees.

Re: Region Two: The Forest

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Parker blocked high, twisted, and slashed at his knees, hoping to catch him off-balance, still circling, circling-- almost there---

"Ohh, Daisy? I know something youuuu don't know...."

Parry, thrust, whap at the arm with the gun to make him drop it, hopefully.

Re: Region Two: The Forest

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Like oh, say, how to use these frakking things?" Anders asked dryly, not dropping the gun out of pure stubbornness. "No need to rub it in now, Parker."

Fending her off artlessly with the sword, he tried to squeeze off a shot in her direction.

Re: Region Two: The Forest

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Chortling, Parker managed to block the 'shot' with her sword, although her monitor said she was out a gunshot-scorched rib. But she was in the right position now, and Daisy didn't want to be a gentleman any more. "Nope."

Slash, parry, shoot at him with her other hand, hope he trips with that last cut, hope he takes 'damage' from the gunshot---

then Parker turned and ran, calling over her shoulder, "I lied about the watch!"

Heading for the iPod left as bait.

Re: Region Two: The Forest

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
He did trip with the last cut, as it happened. "Good!" he yelled after her, firing a couple more shots at her as she ran. "This watch was a gift!"

Re: Region Two: The Forest

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
Parker was laughing as she ran, even though one of those shots got her in the leg, according to her monitor-- but it was worth it, because she hit the clearing, and there was the iPod--

Waitaminit.

DAMNIT. NOT an iPod, just a voice recorder. Which meant she still had to get his iPod.

Parker was getting frakking tired, to quote someone. She crouched into some underbrush, waiting for Daisy to come back, and tried to think of a plan.

Ooo, wait. She still had explosives....

Re: Region Two: The Forest

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Why, no, this would not be Anders allowing himself a moment of smugness. Except yes, it would be.

Out came the infrared binocs again, but by this point he was sweating and tired and kept fogging up the lenses.

Meh. He opted for firing randomly into the brush and up into the trees.

Re: Region Two: The Forest

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
Parker froze, took a breath, then started to crawl. Hmmm. Have to drive him out, where she could see him.... She looked at the explosives in her hand, and smiled cat-like.

And then threw the first of three small grenades over where the gunfire was coming from. "Banzai."

Anders was not so much a fan of this, no. Luckily he still had the piton gun, and though his shoe soles were a little the worse for wear he managed an aerial escape of sorts.

Except now he was swinging from a branch, trying to find a decent perch before his arm gave out . . .
