Home Economics, Tuesday, period 1

"This is our last class together," Emma said and regarded everyone sternly. She might even miss some of them. Not that she'd say it aloud. "And your final project is due. Please place it on your desks and I shall walk around and inspect."

John's tiny room was built with bits of jeans for fabric, two toilet paper cylinders for a bed, a piece of cardboard for the roof, a series of taped together match boxes for a dressers and bits of a floral pattern design for the wallpaper.

It was tacky but hey, it was a room.

Annette's brothel room was done up in a bunch of red silk and big throw pillows for a bed. There were fake potted palms sitting here and there, and she had built a little bar with popsicle sticks that she painted red. Little glasses that looked half full lined the counter.

Her room looked like maybe it was made for a harem, so she placed a naked dark-haired doll under the covers and stuck a miniature red flower in her hair.

She handpainted a sign and hung it above the bed, it read: Turtle - A liberating sex slave. Serving happy-go-lucky customers since 2007.

River had continued on the slightly morbid theme. Her room was a neat box with walls painted warm yellow, the floor covered in an old towel as an imitation of a rug, and a series of neatly drawn portraits on the wall. A bed was built out of cardboard and covered in white sheets. Most of this room was splattered with red paint, however and dismembered body parts hung from the ceiling. There were also a few harpoons stuck to the walls.

Peter had gotten a little too caught up in this project. He ended up making a wee replica of a room in Cair Paravel by using little pieces of fabric from some of his Narnian clothes as well as carving a bed and chair from some pieces of wood. What? He was going to give it to his little sister.

Dawn's room was pretty simple--there was a piece of balsa wood covering the window, some weetiny wooden stakes in a plastic holder by the front door, balsa wood bookshelves with little painted cardboard books, and a slightly lopsided couch covered in cotton and a paisley-printed fabric. A weetiny plastic mug of colored "hot chocolate" was on a wooden side table, next to an open book.

Dean's project was basically a recreation of one of the most... memorable motel rooms they'd lived in.

He'd made the furntiure - two beds, a tv and dresser, and a little kitchenette area - out of various boxes and stuff he had laying around the room. The round table was a film cannister for the base with a piece of balsa wood on top. Then he'd decorated with bits of fabric, all in really atrocious loud animal prints.

The animal heads on the wall were from a cheap set of plastic animals that he'd decapitated for the project and he'd got some fun fur and made a wee bearskin rug.

To top it all off, he'd borrowed a couple of the barbies he'd bought for his half sisters, and set the one that had kinda looked like Sammy at the table with a teeny tiny computer. The one that kinda looked like him he had sitting on the bed with lots of teeny tiny guns laid out around him.

Setsuna's was basic and simple, with a lot of wood-looking material and thin paper to make her little room resemble a dojo. Very simple, a little lopsided, but there were little miniature weapons racks and scrolls on the wall that she'd actually managed to get inspirational Buddhist quotes on in Japanese.

...Damn thing just ended up making her feel homesick.

Jamie's room was a mixture of broken pieces of wood, bent metal and crushed concrete thrown on the table.

"Bruce Banner's bedroom," Jamie said with a nod.

Cameron's head had been at the academy already when he built his room. He'd managed to set a camouflage theme for both the curtains and the beds in the room. Yes, there were several beds as it basically looked like a military dorm.

The beds looked a bit wobbly as he'd used matched as legs and the lockers were made out of matchboxes. He did go through the effort of painting wee airplanes on the walls.

Demyx's final project...he made on the spot. Hopefully Emma wouldn't notice that the entire thing was made out of water.

Yeah, right.

Aeryn covered hers in aluminum foil. It's like a ship, see.

Also, she sucks at decorating.

Layla's room was very clean, and very green, from the cloth that made up the bedspread to the little green curtains she'd put on the window. There was a table and chairs, all made from wood that she'd painted white, and every corner of the room had a miniature, but real, potted plant.

Stark had made a tiny replica of living quarters on a Leviathan, sort of. At least, it looked as much like that as he could make it. Making curved walls inside a box had proved tricky, and he finally settled for slightly bent black construction paper with brown and gold paint. It didn't achieve quite the right effect, but at least the walls were no longer straight lines.

There was a wee bed, made out of a box, with a scrap of gold cloth on it for a blanket, and a wee table and stool made out of other bits of painted cardboard, and a wee yellow blob on the floor that might have been a DRD if you squinted.

As a finishing touch, he had added a tiny, carefully lettered sign reading "MY SIDE" on one wall.

Jim's room was pretty much empty. There was a mattress in the middle of the floor, a table, and a television. All of this was molded out of Jello.

Aside from that, the room was empty. He figured that the occupant travelled a lot.

Alec had made a model of his dorm room, which was actually pretty accurate, if bare - well, that's how it actually looked. It seemed to be made out of fabric scraps from an old t-shirt, markers, scrapbook materials, glitter and yarn.

Annette rested her head on her desk. She was sore and tired and would be glad when she could crawl under her covers and sleep for the rest of the day.
