Novice's Guide to Villains and Villainy - Friday, Period 3, Danger Shop

Thursday met the students outside the Danger Shop today. She waited for everyone to gather before she spoke.

"This is your last class before the final examination. The enemies you have had to face over the past semester have all met their match. There have been triumphs and tears, but overall you have all done admirably and shown yourselves to be worthy opponents. Unfortunately, that isn't always the case. When you walk through these doors, you will have a choice to make. Stand and fight countless opponents led by a mastermind considered to be one of the most powerful beings in the world, or walk away and let them win. You may know him as Lord Vizzle from the Barry Plodder books.

Chances are you won't succeed. That's fine, that won't affect your grade. You can work together, or work alone, but know that if you face him alone you won't last long. Fight your way through masked minions more powerful than you, get to the leader and try to defeat him. Be warned - he has unknown powers that are difficult to avoid.

The aim here is to try your best knowing you will likely fail. How you proceed is your choice entirely."

Fight! Masked Minions

The masked minions spread out with plenty for everyone. They were unafraid to use their magic against the students. Get in there and fight or run away. It's your choice.

Shawn decided the best way to start with this was just to pick one on its own, aim and shoot. It had worked with those weird dinosaurs, after all. So that's just what he did.

The masked minions weren't used to non-wizarding weapons, but they were used to moving fast to dodge blasts. The shot clipped the minion's arm, causing him to hiss in pain. In retaliation, he whispered seemingly unintelligible words from behind his mask. A shot of yellow light burst from his outstretched wand in Shawn's direction.

Well, crap. That wasn't good.

Shawn, not really good with the magical side, just threw himself to the ground to avoid it. He wasn't sure what the yellow light did, but he was pretty sure he didn't want to find out.

He aimed again from his position sprawled on the ground before he made an attempt to stand again.

Being a member of the Masked Minions meant a sharp learning curve - adapt or die. This particular Masked Minion learned that the non-wizard weapon hurt quite a bit. He cast a repelling spell at just the right time and sent the bullet bouncing aside like it had hit a physical object and ricocheted off. Shortly after, a stream of a different color spewed out of the wand and down towards Shawn.

Shawn moved, but hey, this masked thing was hitting him while he was down, and that wasn't very nice. So when the beam of light hit his leg, and the whole limb suddenly went very, very immobile, he wasn't that thrilled. "Got to learn to dodge better," he grunted shifting the frozen leg across the ground.

He shot off another couple of rounds at the cloaked thing, and scooted to the side as best he could, which wasn't that well with only one leg at his disposal.

River stared at the masked minions, waving her knives casually.

One of the Minions had targeted River, muttered under his breath and sent a stream of red flying out from his wand towards her.

Magic! River tried dodging the red and launched herself at the minion, trying to stab him.

Tori wasn't about to run away, no way. She stood her ground, ready to defend herself in an attempt take these guys down.

Wondering what they were going to throw at her, Tori created a ball of water that hovered above her hand, ready to use it either offensively or defensively.

A Minion flung her wand hand towards Tori, sending a stream of purple light towards her.

Tori flipped over the beam of light, and fired a strong blast of water at the masked figure, hoping to catch it off balance.

Luke lit his lightsaber and positioned himself so the blade was blocking Hermione as well.

Old habit, et cetera.

Wand still out, she warns him quietly, "If I have to try a spell, it might hit you."

Luke's cheeks flushed pink and he moved a few steps away from her. "Sorry."

Two minions, possibly brothers but at least partners in crime, set their sights on Luke and Hermione. One blast of energy from a wand was coupled with another from the other man's wand.

One of the Minions didn't hesitate before shouting seemingly unintelligible words that resulted in hurtling a spell towards Luna.

Luna stepped to the side, hoping to duck whatever had been cast, and shouted "Protego (http://www.hp-lexicon.org/magic/spells/spells_p.html#protego)! Expelliarmus (http://www.hp-lexicon.org/magic/spells/spells_e.html#expelliarmus)!"

The Protego worked, protecting Luna for the time being. Expelliarmus also hit home, sending the Masked Minion's wand flying out of his hand. He somersaulted after the wand, muttering a spell that would have been a lot like Accio were it a real spell. The wand returned to its master's hand, allowing him to turn, still half-crouched to attack Luna again if she didn't get to him first.

"Hey there. I have a shipment of dark robes and creepy masks back in my truck. Can anyone sign for it?" Peter asked. "Anyone?"

It seemed that someone wanted to sign for those. He was so enthusiastic about it that he cast a spell directly at Peter.

"Okay, thanks," Peter said, leaping over the glowy beamy thing. "Now I'm just going to have to confirm, what's your name?" He swung a kick at the minion's mask.

The mask clip dangled, barely in place, but the mask was now skewed on the minion's face, blocking his view as he cursed and then sent out a curse at Peter.
