Ares addressed the class as they came in. "Now, I'm sure you're all still missing your brats, so today we're going to take things easy, and have a bit of a review session in anticipation of our upcoming final. Which will be hard and arduous, and you will fail if you don't adequately prepare."

Rikku couldn't believe she was actually asking Ares, of all people, for advice on something. But then, he wasn't a person, and that was sort of the point.

"Uh, hi? Can I ... ask you about something? Not really class-related. Or, I guess it is, maybe."

"Rikku," Ares grinned. "Loved the job you did with the hole in the fabric of reality. Impressive work, especially for a mortal."

Rikku flushed and stared at her feet. "That was ... an accident. I was trying to bring someone across a dimensional space and had to blow myself out of ... I don't know where I was. I'm just glad I had a Blessed Gem on me. White magic, you know?"

She swallowed hard. "So you're ... you're really a god? And Hades, too? And the whole soul-thing, that's real, and you shouldn't trade it to someone, even for something you kind of need?"

"Hey, messing with the space-time continuum can be tricky even for gods," Ares said. "Anything that ends with a mortal not being ripped apart to their component atoms is a win."

"Yes, I'm a real god, as real as they come," he continued. "And trading your soul? It's a bad idea. Even if you think the payoff's worth it, it's almost always not."

"Really? I guess I didn't think of it like that. Scared me, though. And I don't scare easily."

Rikku nodded slowly. "I told Hades no, and he said ... a bunch of things. Agreeing with me, but trying to make me feel like I was awful and terrible. Or maybe I was just imagining it because I do feel awful and terrible."
