US History, Wednesday Period 3

Chuck got into class about a minute after the bell rang. He surveyed the class, and appeared to be in a good mood.

“Well, well. Just one more lesson left, after this.” He rubbed his hands together, excited. “And that’s the final. Since it’s a scantron test, I’ll have grades posted outside my office later that day. Then you can be off on your merry little way for summer break, and we’ll never have to bother each other again. No more silly questions from you, no more assignments from me. No more pranks from you, no more detentions from me. No more ghosts or weird source siting or queries about Washington, or scrabble. We'll all be nice and square.”

Chuck grabbed the syllabus. “We’re a little behind schedule, what with last week’s punishing of the guilty. So I’ve decided to do a review session today, instead of actually teaching you the last chapter. You should’ve read it on your own anyway, so there.”

Chuck got out his teaching notes. “Feel free to ask questions about anything we’ve discussed in class.” He remembered something. “Except about the final. Yeah. I haven’t written it yet. So it’s no good trying to ask about the sections or “will such and such be on the test?” Just unload all those other questions you've been too hungover in class to talk about.”

Chuck looked around the room, grinning. Nothing could ruin a mood this good.

He hoped he wasn’t speaking too soon.

Kawalsky had a bag. In that bag, Kawalsky had a collection of 'prepared before the show' paper wads.

He chose key moments during the class when he thought Noblet wasn't paying attention to throw them at people.

Matilda raised her hand. "So Mr. Noblet. The ghost hasn't been around lately has he? Because I hear he doesn't like teachers giving unwarrnented detentions to their students."

No ghost huh? She'd fix that. An eraser from the chalkboard hit the back of Chuck's head. "He doesn't seem to like that idea."

Jim had a square of toilet paper on his desk.

No reason why.

Jim didn't do anything with the toilet paper. It was almost as if he was unaware that it was there.

He just went ahead and quietly looked through his notes, studying for the exam. Granted, his notes were terrible and there's no way anyone would be able to successfully study from them. But he had to keep up appearances.
