Marshall is nervous, nervous, nervous. In trying to impart a little bravery to Sydney, he'd forgotten he didn't really have any to give. He shoots wildly, capping one zombie in the head and another in the solar plexus.

Flailing wildly, Marshall starts stomping on the zombie's head like a 1950s housewife dealing with a roach problem. "ACK! Zombie! I've got zombie!"
