Parker posted the rules and opened up the club.

· NEVER USE ALCOHOL OR DRUGS BEFORE OR WHILE SHOOTING.

· CHECK IN ALL WEAPONS BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE RANGE

The moving targets are there again; in honor of Prom, there are jester's masks and tragic-comic faces popping up to be shot at.

John's busy obliterating jester masks.

This whole shooting like she's picturing the targets as something else thing was getting to be a habit.

Right now? Those tragic-comic faces are all Walter's employers, that vampire of his, his enemies, and a few Rambaldis thrown in for theraputic spice.

Most of the shots were right between the eyes of the masks. But a couple had their mouths blown off, just for fun.

BAM! BAM! The masks are toast. Well, some of them. Others, the wall behind them is toast. But the aim is improving!

Also, because Nadia's there, Sokka kept the giggling down to a minimum.

After the week she's had, she really doesn't care what the targets look like.

Jack was in a good mood, which meant he was grinning as he fired. Gremlins and suddenly appearing masks made for interesting targets.

Turtle was there, but she was just sort of holding her gun nervously (after checking it fifty million times to make sure it was empty and that the safety was on) and watching everyone as if perhaps seeing other people shooting crap would make her feel better about shooting crap herself.

It wasn't working.

Eeeeeep.

John walks past Turtle, going to swap guns, and does a double-take.

Never one to miss a double-take, Turtle glared a little at him. Yeah, she was joining gun club. What was it to him? If he had any problems with it, he could take it up with her foot in his shin.

John looked at her, and the gun, and her, and the gun, and how she was so not comfortable holding it. He raises an eyebrow and makes a little gesture with his non-holding-a-gun hand. He does the guy nod to ask if she wants to follow him out of the actual range and talk where people aren't actually shooting.

With a heavy, reluctant sigh, Turtle followed.

"When'd you get that? And where?" John asked, getting his ammo case out full of guns to put his handcannon away for later cleaning after talking to ShinKicker in the relative quiet. "Ever shoot before?"

"Mr. Deadpool got it for me, for my birthday," Turtle said, defensively. "And I haven't. That's why I'm here." There was a pause. "Parker said I could come...."

"Hey, Shortstack, I'm not questioning your permission to be here. I'm questioning your ability to be here," he said, not rudely. For John. "You want lessons? Tips?"

"I...don't know yet," Turtle said truthfully with a frown. "I...don't really want to learn, but I know it could be...good for me." And she didn't want to have Mr. Deadpool disappointed in her. But John didn't need to know about that.

"Well, standing up at the line holding that thing like it's gonna bite you isn't gonna help," he said. "You wanna learn how to use it? From me?"

"I said I don't know yet! Geez, back off. I'm just here to get the feel of things. For all I know, this thing'll go back and collect dust in the weapon's locker."

"Turtle? You should learn to use it. Not marksman, but use it. How to take care of it. Because there could come a time where you may need it, and if you don't know how to use it, you could miss. It could explode. It could be worse than if you didn't have it," he said quietly, completely serious.

"I know," Turtle pouted, really not appriciating the lecture. "I know it's a good thing to know how to use, but that doesn't mean I'm comfortable with it. I don't wnat to ever have to use it, and I don't like guns."

"That's a very respectful attitude to have."

He sighed. "Look, I may not be the best guy here to give you advice, teach ya how to use it, but I'm available if you want it. Or Parker. She'd probably glare less. Or more. Never know."

Door's not so pleased to be shooting at faces that look quite so human, but she also recognises that not everything with a human face... is. And her aim's improving.

Parker is shooting. A lot. Wait until she's done before you approach her.

River walked up to Parker and held up the Navy colt that Jane had given her yesterday (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/1596049.html?thread=71032721#t71032721)
. "Got this," she said.

Parker's eyes widened, and she put down her gun carefully, then traced a finger over the Navy colt. "It looks authentic. Where did you get it?"

"Jane gave it to me." River suddenly looked sad. "She's going back to Deadwood." She held the gun carefully in her hand. "It's a very good present."

"I'd say so, yeah." Parker shook her head. "She was a big help on Miranda. I'm sorry that you'll miss her." And because the thought of missing people is way too uncomfortable, she quickly adds, "Do you want to clean it, shine it up so you can use it?"

A smile lit up River's face and she nodded. "Should look after it well. Know how to do that." She had watched people clean guns on Serenity often enough.

"We've got a couple kits over here, including one with metal polish, so it looks nice." Parker pulled a couple out of the cabinets, and a soft rag for shining it as well. "Are you ready for Prom?"

River picked up one of the kits, examining it. "Have to change into my dress first," she said. "Should be ready after that. You?"

Parker laughed a little, then nodded. "Anders is going to be my escort. So we can both attempt to have fun." And have someone to hang onto, if it gets rough. "Dress, shoes, jewelry all ready. Stop by my room if you need help, later."

River's face lit up. "Might need some help with my hair," she said.

Parker's smile widened. "Cool. I'll see you an hour or so before you want to leave, then. You have to look as good as Jack, right?"

"Yes. See you then." River giggled. "You think I'll manage?"

"I think the challenge will yield interesting results," Parker prevaricated, almost giggling. "And if you don't manage it, no one will blame you."

River chuckled and began clean the gun.

Pippi waited for a lul in Parker's shooting.

*bang*

Back around 5pmEST, low-key day today. I mean, it's Prom. Not too many people wanting to shoot instead.
