US Government [Friday, April 13, 1st period]

There was a lectern in the front of the class with a hastily sketched seal of the President of the United States on in.

Josh lounged behind it. "Okay. We've talked about all of the major branches of government and ignored what the states do, as is right and proper. There is one more group of people we should probably talk about. Their job is to misinterpret everything you do, poke holes in your brilliant programs, and general make your life miserable. They call themselves the Fourth Estate and think they're sooooooo important just because they're protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution."

Josh made a "blah, blah, blah" gesture with his hands. "They are the press corps and a bigger bunch of incompetent alcoholics you couldn't hope to meet. Today, you get to be them!"

He straightened up behind the lectern. "And I will be myself and tell you all why you're wrong."

"Maybe if you gave them fresh donuts, they wouldn't be so much with the hole poking?" Dawn suggested.

"But maybe if you weren't so mean and grumpy to them and gave them lots of fresh, oozy jelly donuts, they'd be nicer to you?" Her stomach grumbled. Yup, should have eaten before coming to class.

"Would the oozy jelly get all over their chairs? Because we don't have the budget to reupholster," Josh made up.

"No, but it could get all over their fingers and clothes and make them look silly," Dawn pointed out, "and then you could point and laugh after they left."

"Because you're trying not to antagonize them?" She reminded him, wondering exactly how it was he'd obtained a position with any kind of power. He dealt with people worse than Buffy and Wesley combined.

"But you just said that they poke holes in your programs. So, either the problem is either with the programs, or with your relationship with the press, right?" Even Dawn wasn't crazy enough to suggest that the problem was both.

"The programs are fine!" Josh insisted. He sighed. "So the press can get their stupid donuts."

He brightened up. "Can I get the powdered sugar ones? That'll totally mess up their suits."
