Novice's Guide to Villains and Villainy - Week 13, Friday, Period 3 (Danger Shop)

The Danger Room was set up to look like a non-descript hallway with one door on either wall. Both doors looked exactly the same.

"Not all villains are human or as easily alienable as our would-be alien invaders from the other week. Sometimes you have to face the unknown, something you've never encountered before and likely won't encounter again. Sometimes you go into a confrontation expecting one thing and find yourself faced with something completely different. Behind each of these two doors is a monster. Use your resources. Use your allies. Your goal should be to get them to submit to your demands. Good luck."

After class, she added, "Next week will be our last class before the exam. I'll let you know what it entails next week. It will be a practical exam and don't worry, if you've been paying attention, you won't need to study."

Second doors were always better. River opened it.

"GOOD MORNING!" A blue furry creatured with big blinking eyes suddenly appeared from who-knows-where. "I'm Grover! It is very nice to meet you, little girl!"

River blinked. "Nice to meet you too. I'm River. Do you dance?"

Grover made an incredibly sad face. "I do not dance, no. I can not dance." He shook his head back and forth, and his whole body twisted with him. "I can SING! Sing with me!"

"I can sing too. But why don't you dance? You can move. You can sing. Hence you can dance."

Grover whispered, "No, I am afraid to dance. Don't tell. Shhhhh!" Then burst out, arms flailing, "SING! Sing a SONG! LOUDER!!"

River sighed, then began to sing:

I am a mole and I live in a hole
I live underground and I dig all around
I've got bad sight as it is always night
You are forlorn 'cause I dig up your lawn

"Can we dance now?"

"That is a very good SONG! Mole in a hole," Grover sang. "Bad sight it is always... light. YAAAAAY!" Then he looked shy again, and ducked behind River. "You go first," he whispered.

River did a few simple dance steps, while repeating the song. She extended a hand towards Rover.

Grover swayed with the singing, and then very carefully took River's hand. He took two dancing steps, then put his hands over his eyes and hunched over himself. "Oh, I am so terrible. Terrible, terrible!"

River extended both her hands towards him. "Nooooo, you're doing perfect. Sing at the same time, it will make it easier. Try again!" She began to sing and dance again.

Grover hesitantly took her hands, still shaking his head, but sang again while swaying. "Put the lime in the coconut and turn it all about--"

River joined in the singing and swayed with him. "You're dancing perfectly!" She did a spin.

Grover preened, and declared, "I am a wonderful dancer!" He spun around like River. Then fell down. "Ow!"

Re: Door Two: Grover

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-04-13 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
River attempted to help him to his feet. "Falling down is part of dancing," she said.

Re: Door Two: Grover

[identity profile] bookyeve.livejournal.com 2007-04-13 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Grover shook himself again, saying, "Nobody gets hurt when you sing! I look silly. I know I look silly." Then he opened his mouth and yodeled, "LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!"

Re: Door Two: Grover

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-04-13 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
River blinked at the yodeling. That was just strange. "...try again?"

Re: Door Two: Grover

[identity profile] bookyeve.livejournal.com 2007-04-13 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"Will you hold my hands so I don't fall down too hard?" Grover asked putting his hands over his eyes and peeking out at her.

Re: Door Two: Grover

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-04-13 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Of course!" River beamed and reached out her hands. "That's a good thing about dancing. You get support from someone else."

Re: Door Two: Grover

[identity profile] bookyeve.livejournal.com 2007-04-13 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Okay, oookay," Rover agreed. "You hold my hands now! No tripping, no tripping!" He held onto her hands and beamed up at her. "Dancing is FUN!"

Re: Door Two: Grover

[identity profile] moonbrain-tam.livejournal.com 2007-04-13 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
River danced, a little carefully as to not upset him. "It is! And you get to hold hands!"

Re: Door Two: Grover

[identity profile] bookyeve.livejournal.com 2007-04-13 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Dancing and SINGING. Singing and DANCING!" Grover did both, and bounced along. "FASTER!"

River could do faster. She wasn't sure Grover could, though. Still, she had to let him try.
