There were no handouts or items for demonstration visible in the classroom when the students entered today. John was leaning against his desk, hands in his pockets as everybody filed in. He looked like he hadn't got much if any sleep the night before.

"So you've had almost an entire term of Hunting classes now," John said. "And, being in Fandom, even if you haven't had any supernatural experiences before you came here, I'm sure you've had some since.

"Today we're going to talk about those. I want you each to pick some encounter with the paranormal you've had -- either here or before -- and analyse it in light of what you've learned in this class." He smiled faintly. "Think of it as a debriefing of sorts. You can talk about what you thought it was and what it actually ended up being, any research you did or wish you'd did about it -- how you dealt with it, and how you would deal with it if it happened now -- would you do the same thing or something different? Feel free to ask each other questions as well."

John looked over the class. "So, who is going first?"

and what you'd do now that you know something about being a hunter.

"If I had the chance to do it over again, I'd research the lives of the snow monsters before trying to talk to them." Blair nodded. "I think it would have helped negotiations if I had known their history."

He thought for a minute. "Also, I'd wear a helmet."

"Why a helmet?" John asked curiously.

"They'll help with peaceful negotiations." Blair nodded. "They were cut short last time when I took an iceball to the head."

"When you suspect your aunt is possessed, don't go talk to her alone," Wyatt said solemnly.

"It's always good to have backup whenever you suspect you're going to be going into a dangerous situation," John said. Ignoring the fact that he himself tended to work alone most of the time.

"When swallowed by a giant lizard demon, the best exit is through the top of the mouth, through the brain and out the eye," Mel said with a serious nod.

"Hopefully that won't be a piece of information you'll have need of very often," John said.

"I went back in time to find my sister and her boyfriend and ended up helping save Fandom from a bunch of samurai fishmen. I... think I handled that one pretty well. We whomped them!"

"My first encounter in Fandom was zombies. Gah. What a mess. I'd definitely use fire next time, if they started running amok again," Parker said, making a face. "And actually be organized enough to look for what was causing the invasion. Still, I think we did-- not terrible, for a first time thing."

Setsuna was having trouble sorting through the long list of supernatural experiences to choose from, but she settled on one that seemed to work well with this class.

"Never jump to a conclusion about spirits. I almost exorcised one of my classmates into nonexistance once because we didn't take the time to realize that she was actually very harmless and just wanted to get to know everyone better."

There was a pause. "This was actually not at Fandom, so don't go trying to figure out who I tried to exorcise. You wouldn't know her."

Luna knew that she came from a much more, er, magically active place than most and not wanting to steal the limelight from others, she kept mostly quiet.

"I'd wear football pads and carry a sledgehammer next time I go up against a troll."

"I came here to learn about dealing with supernatural threats," Chris said. "And since I've been here, I've helped vanquish creepy shadows and vanquish the source of all evil. And then I helped bring back the demon that he possessed. I think the lesson I've learned in this class have been beneficial, though sometimes a week too late."

This really wasn't the type of question that Liz wanted to answer but she gave a response that was a close enough to the truth as she could manage, "If I was going to be abducted and experimented on by aliens again I'd do more to help stop them,"

One of the empty chairs was suddenly occupied by a... student? He wore a neat outfit with a tie that was vaguely reminiscent of a boy's school uniform from a previous decade, but the face above it was fox-shaped, with fine red-gold fur and perky ears.

Tannim spotted him and slouched in his seat, hoping no one would notice.

Foxtrot X-Ray looked over at Tannim and waved. A pair of horn-rimmed glasses appeared on his nose and he adjusted them slightly, then appeared to give his full attention to the student speaking. A pencil appeared in Fox's hand - or rather, paw - and he tucked it behind his ear thoughtfully.
