fandomhigh | [Computer Science - Week 12, 4th Period]

Computer Science was in the Danger Room today ~~like every other class, apparently~~, though as everyone walked in, the room looked like nothing more than a large arena.

"So, following last week with the war games, here's another way of simulating real world events. The Danger Room, as some of you know, is a resource the teachers of Fandom have access to in case they want to demonstrate something or have students participate in an activity that would be otherwise impossible in a classroom setting."

The brightly lit interior of the Danger Room disappeared suddenly, leaving the students standing in the alley way beside a small warehouse-like building in the middle of a city.

"I mocked up a simulation for you guys, but it's not as in depth as this kind of technology can achieve when expertly plotted and programmed," he said, leading them up the ramp to the inside of the building. People walked around, leading bicycles or watching tv in the loft area, ignoring the students for the moment while Logan continued. "If you put enough effort in, this can be absolutely seamless and difficult to tell from the real thing. As it is, there are a few glitches that can show you that, at the end, they're not actually there."

He gestured at one guy with a bicycle, who headed down the ramp with his bike and disappeared around the corner -- a moment later, the guy walked in the back door of the room, collected his bike, and walked down the ramp again.

"Go ahead and talk to some of the people around here and see how limited they are in conversation," he said. "End of the class, I expect you to be able to tell me about at least one of these people, at least enough to give their name and what city this is supposed to be in."

There's some guy hanging out - if you're a girl he's probably already smiled at you.

Ami noticed that someone at least seemed friendly.

"Hi." she said a bit shyly, hoping the guy actually was friendly.

The guy smiled at Ami quite charmingly. "Hey," he greeted. "I'm pretty sure I'd remember a hottie like you, so you must be new."

Ami blushed slightly at the comment.

"I am yes. Ami." She said extending her hand. Hopefully he will be polite and tell her his name.

"Pretty name," he said, taking her hand and squeezing gently as his smile warmed. "So, Ami, you want to head over to Crash later? I'll buy you a drink."

"Thank you but i don't think i will be here that long. Besides, i never go anywhere with people whose names i do not know." she smiled, realizing this was going to be fun and difficult at the same time.

"What, you're only dropping by?" The guy tsked, looking disappointed. "This place could use another pretty face around, since most of these ones I've already dated."

Ami looked around. "What all of them?"

The guy flashed a grin at Ami. "What can I say? I'm high in demand and not selfish about making sure everyone gets a taste."

"Really? So what do you do around here other then date people?"

"Deliver packages," he shrugged. "Or being a pain in the ass. Or making Max upset."

"Who's Max?" Ami asked casually.

He nodded towards the girl in the lounge (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/1318024.html?thread=77234312#t77234312). "That's Maxie," he said. "Be careful - don't get too close or she'll bite your head off."

Rikku walks up to the last guy and blinks a few times.

"Whoa, Alec? Is that really you?!" She looks around nervously. "We had to move the box into the hallway last night. Wayyyy too creepy."

The guy looked at Rikku for a moment like he didn't hear her, then smiled charmingly. "Hey, I admire a girl who can wear shorts like that in this weather. Wanna go out for a drink later?"

Rikku blinked at him for a moment. "It's ... not you? Right, no, it wouldn't be. Who are you, then?"

"I always wear shorts, even when we were on Gagazet and it was snowy and freezing. That was probably stupid." She blushed and tucked her hair back. "And I can't, sorry."

He paused again, staring at her blankly until whatever rudimentary program reigned in his mind reset itself. "You've got me confused with someone," he said, grinning. "Must be a good-looking guy, whoever he is."

Watching him reset was kind of weird. But it reinforced the whole, he wasn't real, which reminded her: she had a mission.

She played with her hair and tried to look flirty. "Oh, you bet he is! But I don't think I caught your name?"

The guy smirked and lifted one shoulder in a vague shrug. "That's classified," he said smoothly. "But going out for a drink gets you security access."

"I see," Rikku smiled. "You must be a pretty important guy, then. Does saying maybe get me an initial?"

"How about an A? A+ if you agree to coffee," he bargained, grinning.

"I kinda doubt your name starts with 'A+'," she laughed. "Unless you've got really weird parents who called you something like 'A-plus-xylophone-bigglesworth'."

"I'm kinda new. You know of any good coffee places around here?"

"My parents didn't name me. Max did. And there's only a couple places where coffee's actually got any coffee in it," he said, amused. "But I don't know if it counts as 'good'. Trust me, drink's a better way to go."

"Max? The dude at the counter mentioned a Max. How come he got to name you?" She chewed her lower lip, thinking. "If I say yes to a drink, then do you tell me Max decided to call you 'A-plus-xylophone-jigglypoof'? 'Cause I'm totally not gonna buy it."

"Max is a girl," he said, cocking an eyebrow. "And, no, she gave me a real name, not a wordmash."
