Home Economics, Tuesday, period 1

There were boxes in the classroom. One with different kinds of wood, one with different kinds of fabric, and one with various things. There were also small saws, glue, scissors, paper and string spread out on the tables.

"Good morning students. Today we are going to be working on creating miniatures." Emma gestured towards the boxes. "You'll use the materials provided to make a bed, a closet, a couch and a table. If you still have time after that, you're welcome to make whatever else you want."

She sat down behind her desk and opened a copy of Ankh-Morpork Times she'd found lying around somewhere. It was a fascinating read.

ooc: wait for ocd is up.

Setsuna is working rather diligently, with focus, on her miniatures, especially her little kotatsu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kotatsu).

Dawn started measuring the pieces for a table, figuring that would be the easiest place to start. Then she decided that she would try practicing in cardboard first, so she didn't screw up the project completely.

Stark decided to start with the bed. Seemed simple enough, and there would be wee pillows to go with it.

Annette bent over her table, seemingly intent on what she was doing. She had a canopy bed at home so it was what she was trying to recreate now with miniature spindles of wood and small, square cut pieces of blue silk that she folded over and hot glued to a miniature size cardboard matress.

When she was finally satisfied with her bed, she started on her closet.

After John gets a miniature put together and breaks it's leg off by accident, he gives up and stares off into space.

Jim decided that he would design a bachelor's pad. There was no table, there was only a sink. There was no bed, there was only a rough futon. And there was a large rectangle to represent a very large HDTV.

This took about fifteen minutes.

Pam looked over from where she was carefully adding a lace ruffle to her teeny bed. "Would you want to live there? Really?"

"Not really, Pamela, but sometimes you just have to accept reality," Jim said.

He had no real reason for calling her Pamela.

"Pamela?" she repeated.

"That is your name," Jim pointed out.

She raised her eyebrows, and continued, "Okay, well, James, if we're accepting reality, why is there a giant TV?"

Re: Miniatures

"Because that's where the money goes instead of a table, chairs, and bed," Jim said. "You have to prioritize, Pamela."

Re: Miniatures

[identity profile] keds-champion.livejournal.com 2007-04-04 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
"But you have nowhere to enjoy the television, James," she said. "There's just the futon and those are progressively more uncomfortable over time."

"But, Pamela, there's a giant television to take my mind off the pain," Jim said.

"But what will you do all the other hours and hours, James?"

Re: Miniatures

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-04-04 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
"Probably get an XBOX," Jim suggested.

"You have something against GameCube and Playstation?" she asked.

Re: Miniatures

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-04-04 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, Playstation 3 is terrible, Pamela, and you should know that," Jim said. "I might go with the Wii, but the XBOX saves me having to get a DVD player."

Re: Miniatures

[identity profile] keds-champion.livejournal.com 2007-04-04 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
"But the Wii is all interactive, James," she replied. "And funny to watch."

Re: Miniatures

[identity profile] fat-halpert.livejournal.com 2007-04-04 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
"It is cool, Pamela, but you never know when the Wiimote is going to go flying and cause a lawsuit," Jim said.

Re: Miniatures

She stared. "What, James?"

"Some people can't strap those things to their hands correctly, then they let go when they're bowling," Jim explained. "I haven't witnessed this, unfortunately."

Pam looked slightly horrified. "Oh, God, that's something Roy would do."

Layla managed to get the table and closet done before things started to fall apart. Stupid glue.
