When the students entered the Danger Shop, they found themselves in standing in the middle of a port which, from the view out all of the windows, appeared to be floating in outer space. Men and women alike were milling around, bringing cargo into the building, or taking it outside to the waiting spacecrafts.

Zoe was leaning against a stack of boxes, solemnly cutting an apple into quarters, and checking off everyone's names as they came in.

Once everyone had arrived, she smiled and addressed the group.

"Hi boys. Thanks for coming. I know most of you didn't do much of anything to get here, so I'm grateful that you showed up anyway," she said. "Today, you're going to get some experience in the exciting field of outer space transport. Just to make sure everyone's on the same page, here's how the story starts: as strapping young members of the Independents - those are the good guys, for the record - it's been getting harder and harder for you to find good, paying work without the Alliance - those are the bad guys - looking over your shoulders. Luckily, one of your contacts has told you about a man who needs some cargo...quietly removed from a train, and he's decided that you're the man for the job."

"Sign in, and then go through the main door there," Zoe continued, pointing. "Tell the guard you're here for a meeting with Adelei Niska. Accept the job offer that he gives you, and you'll get the rest of your instructions from there."

Sam nodded. "But we're very good at adapting to new situations."

"Right. Gorram teenagers are gonna get me killed," Mal muttered, sighing. "All right, we're going to hit Paradiso in about twenty minutes, so we'd better head back to the other car now," he said. "Follow me, and try to look inconspicuous."

They could do inconspicuous. Dean waited for Sammy to get up and move into the aisle, then followed.

Mal led the way down the aisle, bringing them through one set of doors, and into the next train car. As soon as the second set of doors opened, he stopped short at the sight of a car full of Alliance soldiers.

"Okay, you know how I said inconspicuous? I really, really mean that right now," he said quietly.

Dean nodded eyeing the soldiers. As they slowly started making their way through the car, he nodded and smiled at a couple of the men who were eyeing them in return. "Hi, how ya doing?"

Some of the soldiers grunted in reply to Dean, while the rest merely glared and watched them more carefully as the trio headed through the car.

"Does your brother have a problem with his brain bein' missing?" Mal asked Sam, eying Dean with annoyance.

"He was dropped on his head a lot as a child," Sam deadpanned. "It's kind of tragic."

"That explains so much." As they got out of the car, and went through the next set of doors, Mal stayed behind, while ushering Dean and Sam in ahead of him. "The boxes should be somewhere in here."

"Other than 'boxlike' we got any way of telling we've got what we're after?" Dean asked, looking around.

"Yeah, these are Alliance goods, so they'll have the mark on them," Mal explained. "It's ~~a US and Chinese flag combination~~ red, with some white lines and blue boxes."

Dean nodded. "Right. Sammy, you take that side, I'll take this."

Sam nodded in reply, and began looking through the stacks of boxes, until he found a stack of two with what looked like the symbol Mal had described. "Are these it?"

"Yep, that's them right there. Good job," Mal said, pulling a hand-held radio out of his coat pocket and switching it on. "We found the goods. How long 'til you get here?"

"About a minute," came the fuzzy reply.

"Perfect," Mal replied, stuffing the radio back into his pocket and pulling other cargo into the center of the car to stand on. "I suggest you boys get out of the way for the moment."

Dean moved to the side of the car and gave Mal a curious look. "What's the plan now?"

"My crew is about a minute away from being right on top of us with my ship," Mal said, standing up on the extra boxes to start unscrewing the cover to the train car's roof. "They're going to send someone down, we'll bundle up the goods, they'll lift us out, and we'll drop you off at your rendezvous point. Of course, that's assuming everything goes according to plan, which ain't exactly a rare thing around here."

"Well maybe things will go right, for once," Dean said, trying to be optimistic.

"Yeah, and it would be a real shame if Dean didn't get a chance to be airborne for a little while," Sam said, with as straight of an expression as he could manage.

Dean glared at him. "I should've made you wear the mouse ears today too."

"Yeah, well, too late now," Sam replied, laughing.

"There's still tonight," Dean shot back. "Don't have a hot date with Dawn or anything do you?"

"Uh, I will now, if it'll thwart your plans," Sam said.

"Neither of you is gonna have a date if you don't stop your bickering and focus on what we're doing here," Mal snapped. "Now look out," he said, unscrewing the last screw and letting the roof tile come loose and hit the ground. "Hmm. That was a little louder than I wanted it to be."

"Ya think?" Dean said, wincing at the noise. "I doubt all those soliders a car away are hard of hearing."

Anything Mal was going to say was interrupted by someone falling through the freshly made hole, holding onto a net as he came down. "Looks like I showed up right on time," he said. "You ready to get the hell out of here?"
