Music is Love: [3/30]

As the students enter the room they may notice that the classroom has been decorated in somber tones. The lighting dim and Lorne stands on the stage wearing black.

His face is sad and his usual flamboyance is gone.

"Today kids... Today we're taking it down a notch. Our theme today is songs of woe and angst. Not every song can be a happy one. Sometimes its the sad songs that say so much. Sometimes its not even the song itself that it is sad but the context in that it is used."

Lorne looks up to the sky... or the ceiling rather and points to the heavens. (Or a ceiling tile that looks slightly stained.)

"This one is for you Fred..."

You are my sunshine my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You'll never know dear how much I love you
So please don't take my sunshine away

The other night dear as I lay dreaming
I dreamt that you were by my side
Came disillusion when I awoke dear
You were gone and then I cried

You are my sunshine my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You'll never know dear how much I love you
So please don't take my sunshine away

You told me once dear there'd be no other
That no one else could come between
But now you've left me to love another
You have broken all my...

Lorne chokes up a bit at the end and shuts off the karaoke machine that was playing.

"Your turn kids. Let's see what you can do today."

Ray went with an old country classic.

Counted the stars on the 4th of July
Wishing we were rockets bursting in the sky
Talking about redemption and leaving things behind
As the sun sank west of the Mendocino County line

As fierce as Monday morning feeling washed away
I orchestrated paradise, couldn’t make you stay
You dance with the horses through the sands of time
As the sun sinks west of the Mendocino County line

I have these pictures and I keep these photographs
To remind me of a time
These pictures and these photographs
Let me know I’m doin’ fine
I used to make you happy once upon a time
But the sun sank west of the Mendocino County line

The two of us together felt nothin’ but right
Feeling near immortal every Friday night
Lost in our convictions, lips stained with wine
As the sun sank west of the Mendocino County line

I have these pictures and I keep these photographs
To remind me of a time
These pictures and these photographs
Let me know I’m doin’ fine
I used to make you happy once upon a time
But the sun sank west of the Mendocino County line

I don’t talk to you too much these days
I just thank the lord pictures don’t fade
I spent time with an angel just passing through
Now all that’s left is this image of you

Counted the stars on the 4th of July
Wishing we were rockets bursting in the sky
Talking about redemption and leaving things behind
I have these pictures and I keep these photographs
To remind me of a time
These pictures and these photographs
Let me know I’m doin’ fine
We used to be so happy once upon a time
Once upon a time
But the sun sank west of the Mendocino County line
And the sun sank west of the Mendocino County line
