Superheroing- Tuesday, March 27- 2nd period

The students are again, handwavily ordered to report to the classroom rather than the Danger Shop. "I know, I know, I suck," says Captain Liberty, who sounds a little raspier than usual. "Like you all never have an off month. What we're doing instead is watching this episode of Bitterwoman. And then you can take notes on why the bad guy was campy and wrong, and what you would have done to foil his evil plan. I'll be over here with some Dimetapp if you need me."

[So, so sorry. I have been blech, and between my connection being bitchy and the surprise congestion, I'm flaking. *offers cookies in penance*]

"See if I can heal it," she replied. "What else would I do?"

"Heal it?" He didn't stick his hand out yet. "It's healing on it's own."

Katara raised her hand, ball over water swirling over it. "I'm a waterbender. I can heal with the water. Seriously. I won't hurt you more, but let me take a look."

"Look but don't heal until I say it's all right," he says.

She eyed him, fairly obviously considering calling him an idiot. But she managed to hold her temper and held out her non-waterbending hand for his arm.

Katara wrapped the water around her hand like a glove and kept it about an inch away from his wrist as she focused on the water. It was difficult for her to keep from healing it. The transition from looking to healing was almost instinctual.

She looked back up at John, still concentrating on the water. "You broke it pretty good. I can't fix it totally but I get it started, make it stop hurting."

"Can you do it with the cast on?" John asked. "I'd like to avoid cutting that off and having to get it re-casted."

Katara snickered. "This? Is why I usually don't ask permission first." She smiled at him. "I think I can, yeah."

"Okay." John nodded. "Go for it. Gently, please."

Katara glared at him. "What exactly do you think I am?"

The question, as it turned out, was rhetorical. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath and focused on the water covering her hand and John's arm. After a second, it shimmered brightly as she began to focus on correcting the flow of qi in his arm. She couldn't heal the break all the way, so she focused on dispensing with all the trauma caused by the broken bone, the swelling, the pain, and tried to encourage the qi to start the healing process more quickly.

It took a minute, but she finally opened her eyes and pulled the no longer glowing water back to her. "There. It shouldn't hurt anymore, and it should be all better in a week or two."

"I barely know you," John said, answering the question anyway. "Gimme a break!"

She eyed him. "I would, but then I'd feel badly and try to heal it again so it's not worth it."

"Thank you," John said, feeling the pain ebb away in his wrist. "And sorry for yelling. I've just had...a lot of people try to do things to me lately that turned out bad when they're supposed to be good."

"Oh," Katara said, wind taken out of her sails. "I'm sorry too then. I didn't mean to try to boss you around." She paused. "Well, I did, but my brother keeps telling me I'm too bossy so..."

"I'm used to bossy," he said, waving a hand. "Don't worry about it. Thank you."

"Good then." She grinned. "You're welcome. If you get it checked in a week or so, it should be good."

"Anytime," Katara replied. "Not that you should get hurt again, but still."

She gave him a smile and scootched her desk back to its original position and returned to not paying attention to the movie.
