Conflict Management and Resolution: Mon Period 4 - Class # 11 - Mar 26

Wilson was back in class today though he looked a bit haggard as he leaned against the front of the desk, arms crossed over his chest. Still he had warm smiles for the students as they wandered in and a platter of goodies from J GoB, tea and coffee.

As everyone got settled in their seats, Wilson pushed off from the front of the desk and headed for the overhead projector.

“Good morning everybody, I hope you had a good weekend.”

Leaning his elbow against the projector he grinned.

“Good news. Due to my absence from class last week and by the way, many kudos to Blair and Pippi for a wonderful class, thank you both. Anyway due to my absence, we will not be having the test scheduled for today, today. Instead we’ll be meeting in the Danger Room next week for your test. So, you have an extra week to study.”

Drumming his fingers lightly against the projector, he flipped it on and reached to shut off the lights.

“All right, let’s get started.”



Lecture:

“Today we’re going to go to the brink and discuss the factors that lead up to a violent altercation with an emphasis on the last ditch efforts to intervene to prevent a violent conflict.”

As he spoke, he put the first slide up on the screen. There were going to be a lot of this today, hope everyone was in the mood to take notes.

Class Activity:

“Okay so that’s everything in a nutshell. As I know lecture ran long today I’m going to give you all a head start on studying for your test next week.”

Walking to the desk, he picked up two stacks of handouts.

“I want you to pair up into groups of no more than four and go over these handouts. They will help refresh your memory on the period of history that I will be drawing the test from. Next week, you will be placed in a position to influence the direction of this historic conflict before it escalates to the point of violence as it did back then. Again, let me stress that you will be managing and resolving the first steps of the escalation of the conflict, not actually participating in any part of the conflict itself.”

Once he finished handing out the papers, he went back to his desk.

“To be clear. You will take the test scenario solo but you can use this time today to talk to your classmates about the historic event and bounce ideas off each other about how you might want to approach this conflict next week. I’m also here in case you have any questions.”

[ooc: For meta purposes please call this the War of the Tulips. I will also tell you now that next week’s test will have a cracky twist to it so that your character won’t actually be dealing with a ‘people’ conflict. Come prepared to talk to flowers. ;)]

Annette sat and blew pink bubbles with her gum, waiting to pair up with people. She might have been quietly playing a game on her cell too.

Luke leaned over from his seat. "Psst," he said. "Is your head about to explode from names and dates, too?"

Annette peered over at Luke, then leaned towards him and whispered, "Kind of sort of. If you happen to notice a tick in my eye, take cover."

"Noted," Luke said solemnly. He scooted his desk closer. "I'm more of a 'play it by ear' kind of guy. I don't do too much research before trying to negotiate." He shrugged. "It's worked pretty well for me."

If you ignore the parts where he got electrocuted, almost eaten by a giant monster (twice) and had his hand whomped off, yup. Brilliant plans, all of them.

"You're my kind of guy, Luke." She grinned. "I am also for play it by ear. If you try to research your negotiation, it could backfire and leave you hanging dry. So to speak."

Except for that one time. With Sebastian's journal when she totally planned, connived, and dealt Miss Queen Kathryn that low blow. Annette would gloat over that if the outcome before the incident would have been different.

She raised her brow, "Wet I could deal with. The hanging from a cliff? Nope. Not me. I'll give in any day. You want it, it's yours, just don't leave me hanging to die by fright, thank you very much."

"Maybe certain ones? Like in a tree, maybe? The roof is okay too. A cliff just seems...edgy and rocky and freaking scary. If you fall?" She shuddered. "Ew."

"So I figure the first thing we're going to have to overcome," Peter said, utterly deadpan, "is the fact that we're from the future and they're probably going to think we're witches."

Lana put her head down and studied quietly at her desk. She didn't mind if someone came to join her, but for now she just wanted to focus on the material.
