Parker put up the usual warnings which I am in a rush so can't track down then opened up the Gun Club.

Something else to keep her mind off things happening today. Yay.

Luke chose the shooting alley next to Aeryn's but didn't say a word as he blasted away at his target.

Skywalker overprotectiveness was an inherited trait, apparently.

Aww.

Aeryn doesn't even notice anyone around her until she goes to reload. Yes, reload. It's one of thoose days. When she sees Luke, she kind of gives him a nod as acknowledgment or hello or something.

Luke gave her a small smile in return. "Welcome back," he said quietly. "You were missed."

"I didn't think anyone really noticed I was gone." Despite getting several voicemails on Monday from people who never got calls back.

Luke obviously weighed his answer before answering. "Nothing was broken," he said.

"That bad, hm?" she asks, frowning. She honestly wouldn't have thought John could have managed some of the damage he did.

"She's pretty purple," Luke said, "and the doctor won't let her have caffeine. I think she believes that's the worst part."

"She'll be going into withdrawals any microt now," says Aeryn, realizing the inappropriateness of joking about it. Not that she sounds like she's joking.

"Fine," she says. Total lie, mostly due to the setting. "He's adjusting a bit."

Luke nodded, more as a response to the emotions than the words she said.

He lowered his blaster. "If you need me to" call off my father "do anything..."
