Library [03/22]

Bridge... wasn't exactly himself when he showed up for library duty. But at least he was there.

Revolutions class made Tyler realize he had no idea how to flirt. he almost didn't care, but he had this fantasy where someday he dated someone who wasn't completely insane.

"Hi, Bridge, I'm looking for a book."

Tyler leaned across the counter, spoke in a low voice. "I'm looking for something for a friend about dating and all of that."

Tyler ran a hand through his hair. "Just tell me where it would be," he muttered.

The thought came, feeling like something inside himself. have to, Tyler thought. Need to shut that down, slide by. PASS. You be quiet.

"Thanks," he said aloud, not looking overly happy. "You can just point, I can find what he wants on my own."

You want us to get in the looney bin again? Tyler asked himself. Go hook up with Marla? I'll beat someone up if that's what'll make you shut up again.

Tyler grunted an affirmative, looking a little spacy. "Do you hear anything?" he asked. "Is there a radio on, maybe?"

All the voices in his head laughed at that.

"Of course not," Tyler said, a little wildly, while in his head someone else laughed and added, You dope. "I'll just go get the book."

When he rounded the corner into the stacks, out of Bridge's sight, he slumped to the floor for a moment, head in his hands, not moving.

He would not be entirely himself when he cockily strolled out of the library, checking nothing out.
