[Media Studies & Communication: Week 11, 5th Period]

"Hey guys" Logan greeted the class as they took their seats, giving a handouts to each student. "Today we'll be looking at sterotypes." He moved to the front of the classroom, picking up his coffee mug for a sip before continuing.

"Unsurprisingly, stereotypes are something used quite a bit in popular media, in advertising. You'll hear a lot of people say stereotypes are bad, but why is that? Is there any reason they might be useful?"

Logan spread his hands, looking at the class curiously. "I don't doubt a lot of you have been identified as being part of a stereotype at one point or another, whether true or not. So here's an exercise as well; name the stereotype you believe you are closest to - or one of them, if there's multiple - and identify at least one way each that someone might use the appearance of that stereotype in a good way and a bad way, either to assume something about you specifically or the group you belong to in general."

"I'm a punk," Zero said. "Frequently, this leads people to assume that I'm a problem-causer, unwashed, and my parents are delinquent and probably on drugs. Also that this is not my real name. None of the above are true."

"I'm the good girl, but I'm not always perfect. I do bad things sometimes! I can be rebellious!" Pam said. After raising her hand. Politely. Like a good girl.

"The bookworm," Haruhi answered. "I aim to get the best possible grades I can get, which leads to my fellow peers to believe all I do is study. Which, I will admit, I usually try to keep on top of it, but it is not all I do with my spare time outside classes."
