Conflict Management and Resolution: Mon Period 4 - Class # 10 - Mar 19

When the students file in there is a handout already placed on each desk. Coffee and tea as well as a big box of bear claws from J,GOB are set out.

Sitting on the desk in the front is Pippi. A rather perturbed looking Pippi, actually.

There is a chair between her and Blair.

At least, it kind of looks like Blair. He has on a rather snazzy suit, his hair is slicked back and pulled into the tightest ponytail known to man. He's got a briefcase and a disdainful look on his face. He is not bouncing.

Blair cleared his throat and turned to Pippi, sneering. "Really, Miss. Longstocking, I'm not sure why you've asked me to come to this class. I've got a great number of stocks to check on before the markets close for the day."

"You're here, Blair, because there's something seriously wrong with you. You don't normally act like such a staunch Agent of The Man."

"Nothing is wrong with me!" Blair said sternly. "I'm an average red-blooded, God fearing, synthetic fabric wearing, American male. It's you who has something wrong with you."

"Do you even have a green card, Miss. Longstocking?"

"I have a student visa." Pippi said sticking her tongue out at him. "You've been bitten by a gremlin, or got a bad smack on the head... How's your head?"

"No gremlin bites, I'm sure of it." Blair said, wielding his briefcase and looking at the floor. "I put out poison traps in my room so if any of those ugly creatures come around me, they'll get what's coming to them."

"My head is just fine." Blair eyed the chair a little nervously. "Just fine indeed."

"I don't think it is. The doctor said you probably hit your head, and that I should hit you with a chair, to make you better." Pippi said.

"This chair."

"The doctor is a quack! I don't think the clinic in town is recognized by the American Physicians Association." Blair shook his head. "I'll call my lawyer and have them sued for malpractice!"

Pippi said. "Unless you're faking it. If you're faking it then I wouldn't hit you with a chair of course... But if you insist in behaving in this extraordinary fashion then I'll have to smash this chair over your head. For your own good."

Blair turned to the class. "Pippi would like me to stop acting a certain way. I would rather not get smushed by a chair. We have a conflict."

"Now it's your turn to try and solve this problem using your conflict resolution skills."

"Oh, I'm very careful! I won't crack his head open or nothin. And the doctor prescribed it, he wouldn't tell me to hit Blair with something if it was bad for him. That goes against the hippocritical oath!"

"The doctor prescribed it?" Tori raised an eyebrow at that. "I don't know of any sensible doctor that would advise hitting your friend with a chair."

"It does sound like a radical procedure." Pippi nodded. Though, I'm not a doctor myself, so who am I to question it?"

"Well, I'm going to question it." Tori stated. "Because it's not the right way to deal with this situation."

"Well... I've always been given to understand that doctors are very smart people." Pippi mused. "But what do you suggest?"

"That is true." Tori agreed. "Well, you all ready tried talking to him. Maybe try it again, but remind him of who he is and how he acts, nicely. Even if he does argue against it. It should help him revert to his normal behavior."

"But I been talking to him all day, and even when I told him that if he didn't stop he'd get chaired and even then he still persists."

"I still say hitting him won't help, it might make things worse." Tori replied. "Is there something else you can think of doing for Blair? Besides hitting him with the chair?" She wanted to know if Pippi had any ideas. It wasn't all about her suggesting things. It was about working together.

"Yeah... I can see how it might make things worse... I mean, the doctor didn't say how or where on his head to hit him after all... Um. I guess I could just keep an eye on him for the next 24 hours... That's how long out of the blue weirdness usually lasts... But if he's still acting like this tomorrow I'm taking him back to the clinic!"

"That sounds like a good idea, Pippi." Tori nodded. "I can try to talk to him, maybe that will help."

"Yeah, and if you change your mind about the chair thing, I'm right over here!" Pippi grinned. "But I won't hit him otherwise... Good work Tori!"

Tori chuckled. "Thanks Pippi."
