Student Council [lunchtime]

Josh was in the classroom with his eyes closed. He opened them and gave the Student Council members a bleary-eyed stare as they arrived.

"Okay," he said. "Prom has been scheduled for April 14. The dance is for juniors and seniors only, as is traditional. They can invite underclassman if they choose. We need to work on the dreaded theme thing, blah, blah, et cetera."

He waved his hand uselessly in the air. "Anything else we need to work on, too?"

Yay, prom!

"Well, since the dance is for the juniors and seniors, maybe the freshman and sophomores should try to take on the bulk of the planning," Marie said. "I'd be happy to arrange selling tickets and court voting. And maybe we could all work together on decorating?"

Isabel nodded. "Peter, Peter and I can head that up, but we're definitely going to need lots of help. And I think theme-wise let's try and avoid nuclear devastation this time."

"Definitely we can," Peter agreed. He grinned. "I liked the red balloons though. Perhaps something following up on the Hollywood theme for Homecoming? Only without the lack of colour for a weekend?"

"Following up on Hollywood. How about Broadway?" Peter asked.

"But that's what made the dance fun," Tyler protested with a smirk. "Maybe just a little bit of devastation?"

"That might be idea," she said, nodding at Peter. "We'll have to kick some ideas around."

"As for devastation," Isabel said, turning to Tyler, "If there's another volcano like there was last year, I promise you can blow it up after the dance is over."

Peter wrinkled his nose. "If we're doing violence and mayhem, it should at least be NEW violence and mayhem."

Isabel shuddered. "No violence and mayhem. I've had enough of that lately. I think the key word needs to be fun."

"I agree," Marie said. "Prom night is supposed to be magical, not destructive."

"Exactly," Isabel agreed. "And now I'm picturing enchanted forests. Which may be a bit of a cliche, but I suppose we can add some teal deer to give it a Fandom twist."

Peter refrained from facepalming at the mention of enchanted forests. "Perhaps forests in springtime? All the flowers blooming and such? Fauns playing pipes or something?"

"That could be fun," Marie said. "And we could have different nature-inspired backdrops for photos."

"Or a castle," Isabel said with a perfectly straight face. "With knights in armor.

Peter did facepalm at that then threw a ball of paper at Isabel.

"It would be just like home for Alanna and I," he said dryly.

Would you rather perhaps Old Westy?

"That's an option. There's still enough time, if we act fast," Isasbel said. "Maybe we can come up with a few ideas and let everyone vote and pick one?"

"We have three," Tyler said. "Enchanted forests, old west, castles. Four if you count murder and mayhem."
