US Government [1st period, Friday, March 16]

"We've gotten to the end of our section on the Executive Branch," Josh said as he passed around sheets of paper, "which means that it is time for another exam."

1. What are the requirements of becoming the President of the United States of America?
2. What powers does the President have?
3. What is a veto?
4. What positions can the President appoint people to?
5. Name five cabinet positions.

EC: On a scale of 1 to 10, just how cool is Jed Bartlet?

"Questions? Pleas for understanding, or possible attempts to throw yourself at me in the hopes that I'll find mercy?" Josh shrugged. "I'm here for it all."

1. You have to be at least 35 years old and be a citizen of the United States to be President.

2. The president has executive orders and is also the commander in chief of the military.

3. The power of a chief executive to reject a bill passed by the legislature and thus prevent or delay its enactment into law.

4. Cabinet, Cabinet level administration positions and Supreme Court justices.

Liz handwavily took the test and did pretty well.

1. What are the requirements of becoming the President of the United States of America?

You have to be 35 and a natural-born U.S. citizen. Being a straight, white male and having a brother who is governor of a swing electoral college state is also a bonus.

2. What powers does the President have?

The power of the veto, the power of presidential appointment, the ability to issue executive orders, and commanding the military.

3. What is a veto?

A rejection of a bill that has been signed by both houses of Congress. It can be overridden. There is also something called a pocket veto, where the President doesn't sign it, but lets it sit on his desk until the time period passes and people have forgotten about it and that also counts as a rejection.

4. What positions can the President appoint people to?

Supreme Court Justices, any other Federal judges, Cabinet members, U.S. Attorneys General, heads of Executive Agencies, but usually only with the advice and approval of the Senate.

5. Name five cabinet positions.

Agriculture, Education, Veterans' Affairs, Defense, Interior

EC: On a scale of 1 to 10, just how cool is Jed Bartlet?

1. You have to be at least 35, and be a natural-born US citizen.

2. He has the power of vetoing, issuing executive orders, presidential appointment, and is the Commander of Chief of the military.

3. When the president rejects a bill that has been signed by the House of Representatives and the Senate. It can be overturned if enough people in Congress vote in favor of the bill.

4. Cabinet members, Federal judges, Supreme Court justices, and the Attorney General.

5. Defense, Education, Labor, Agriculture, Commerce

EC: 10, if not more.

1. One must be a citizen of a country called United States and, I believe no younger than 35 years of age.
2. Not much powers compared to an Emperor.
3. When the president turns down a bill from his constitiuents.
4. I believe it is Cabinet members, Federal Judges and Supreme Court Justices.
5. State, Defense, Commerce, Education, Health.

EC: Up to 100 awesome points for Bartlet

Another test, another decent performance except for the question Jim couldn't resist joking in.

5. Above counter, below counter, on kitchen island, bathroom, workshop

Turtle, technically, rocked the answers hardcore and completely on the right day, on time, and everything too. It's her additions to a few that might put the grade to the test.

Like the addition to number one that stated, as well as the proper requirements: Good hair

And two, answered correctly, with the inclusion of: magical tap dancing of influence

Question three got an awesome drawing of that little Bill guy from the cartoon. Awesome in that it looked like he'd been hit by a truck. Unintentionally.

Four went without a addition. Maybe if she was older.

The last question was answered with four correct cabinent positions. And one the corner of the second floor common room. That was the cabinent in which she kept her cereal.

EC? 15 and rising.

When class was over Liz nervously approached Josh, "I'm sorry for missing class last week sir," she said quietly, "I was in the clinic,"

"...I was abducted by aliens during spring break," Liz hesitated slightly, "it brought back unpleasant memories,"

"I don't think anyone can really help," Liz admitted quietly.

"It wouldn't be that hard to believe in my dimension, depending on the person you were talking to," Liz replied softly.

Taking this test reminded Dawn that she never made up the other one she'd missed due to partial visibility. Oops.

"Professor Lyman? I, er, think I need to make up the other test?"

Dawn hadn't meant to take it right that minute, but she sighed and accepted it anyway. "Thank you."

She took it handwavily and did pretty well, except for one or two answers which may have been too vague to actually be seen as answering the question. Or relating to the subject material being tested.
