We Can Never Leave Well Enough Alone

Janet, Charlie, Crichton, and Archie slipped out of the library. Liz was missing. They were going to find her, fast, and then they were going to get the hell back to the library.

Kawalsky shakes his head.

"Charlie," John says, trying to get his attention. "When we get there, we bringing them back or we gonna stay there?"

Charlie looks around. "We'll stay there, for now. Depends on what we find when we get there. The zombies aren't going for the dorms. Seems safer to stay there. We can at least set everyone up, then maybe head back and help the library folks. Maybe."

They needed better intel. Why weren't the zombies going for the dorms? And had they reached the library yet? "Janet, if you've still got your cell phone try calling the library and see if anyone answers. Find out what's going on."

John nods. "Good idea. I know Cam's got them pretty well sealed up in there. Need a favor. We get there, I'm going to find Aeryn. Finally was able to contact her about an hour ago. She's fine but I'm going to get her."

Where's Aeryn at?

You're not going alone.

Dorms, I think.

Sounded okay on the phone. Pissed as hell but that's expected.

I can only imagine.

"No problem, pal. We'll get her too. We don't leave anyone behind."

[OOC: Unless it's a convenient plot device.]

Janet's cell rang just then, making her jump. "Hello?" She could hear someone yelling. "Parker? Parker?" She hung up and shook her head. "Damn it!"

"Hold on. I'll get on the library."

The smell of rotting flesh is overpowering as a zombie comes out of the hallway five feet from you. Its clothing is covered in graveyard dirt, and its eyes have rotted completely from its sockets.

John notices the sudden zombie and shoots to kill.

Something slowly walks towards you making a wet squishing sound.

The posture is off. The facial expressions are wrong.

And it looks hungry.

"Uh, guys? Company." Kawalsky raises his weapon, keeping it levelled at the zombie. "Don't shoot yet. Just.. wait a sec." He wanted a closer look. Not too close.

John winces, looking at the visitor. "Ugh. That is just not right."

[OOC: Stoopid LJ posting a half comment!]

Kawalsky approaches cautiously. "Let's see if it'll follow us. Archie, keep an eye out. There might be more. We don't want to get cornered."

The zombie moves closer, at a slow but steady pace.

"God, that thing had to have eaten at the cafeteria." John keeps his gun trained on the zombie.

The zombie lurched, and a chicken fell out from under its shirt and ran away, squawking terrifiedly.

To finish off the job, the group aims carefully at the last zombie and blows it's mottled head away.

Archie laughs and trains his own gun on the zombie.

"Er . . . John? Is there anything I need to know about this weapon before I pull the trigger?"

"From what I remember, there's gonna be kickback. But, nothing too bad. Hold on tight and aim high."

Archie fumbles with the 9MM for a moment, completely unaware of the safety on it, and raises it into ready position, hoping like hell one of his fits won't see the need to come upon him now.

Calling the library:

Hey! How's the library looking?

*sound of a gun discharging*

We've got zombies in the hallway!
