Janet, Charlie, Crichton, and Archie slipped out of the library. Liz was missing. They were going to find her, fast, and then they were going to get the hell back to the library.

"Crichton, you ever been in a real combat situation before?"

He figured Archie had with being in the Navy, and Janet had because he knew about her death.

Not combat, no. Hunting, yes. Firing ranges, yes.

Archie gives him a tight smile. "Don't think too much. There'll be time enough for that after it's all over."

Well, it's a lot like hunting, only you're the prey and you're trying to stop the hunters from getting you.

And you've got a gun. Watch each others' backs, say if you see something and, well, it's zombies. Aim for the head and gimme some warning if you need more ammo.

"From the sound of it, you've dealt with zombies before. Or are you making this up?" Archie holds up the 9MM. "And I hope you have extra for this?"

"Zombies.. no. But I've seen plenty of movies. Combat situations? Yeah." Feels the heat of the moment and the impending threat and decides once and for all to give up on the classified crap. "I was a special ops soldier in a past life. I know my way around ground tactics. These guys are pretty slow moving, but they work like a pack from the look of it, so we've gotta watch ourselves and stay close."

*dryly* Hooray for past lives.

Archie tightens his grip on his cutlass, comforted by the presence of a fellow serviceman despite the time gap between then. "Since my experience is primarily in boarding crews and laying ambushes, I'll defer to you then, sir," he says. His mind is in combat mode now, and the title slips from his mouth before he realizes it.

Kawalsky grins. "No one's called me 'sir' since I got here. We can do this. Janet's former military too, but a non-combatant. Medic. I'll take the lead, you cover the rear, okay?"

"As for the nine?" He gestures to the gun and hands over a couple of clips.

Archie nods his thanks silently and tucks the clips into his pocket, along with the ones that Phoebe gave him earlier.

*smiles reassuringly at John* If nothing else, I can stick them with a really big needle, right?

Archie pulls out one of his percussion-cap pistols and hands it to Janet. "Here. One shot only, I'm afraid, but better than nothing."

Janet brandishes her zat gun. "Thanks, but no thanks. I actually didn't come out unarmed. I've learned my lesson."

Janet glanced at Charlie. She'd take care of Crichton if he got hurt. Hell, she'd take care of anyone if they got hurt.
