Revolutions: Week 9 Period 5

Aly was perched on top of her desk again as she watched the students come into the classroom.

"I hope you didn't miss me too much last week though it sounds like Bridge was an excellent substitute."  She grinned at Bridge.  "I'm sorry to say I don't have pie for you all.  Hopefully you won't hold it against me."

"Today we're going to switch things up a bit.  This whole semester we've focused on what it's like from the revolutionaries' standpoint. But I spent the past week in my country looking at things from a different angle - from that of the reigning government."

"So today, in small groups or pairs, I'd like you to react to a scenario as you would if you were the government of a country.  Go in with all your guns blazing, try to talk to the dissidents, infiltrate them, try to capture them and ship them off into exile, it's up to you.  Once you decide a plan of attack, I'm going to tell you how the revolutionaries react to your plan and you can respond once more."

"I'm sorry to tell all you strictly democratic souls, but today, you're all representatives of a monarchy.  Your intelligence service has brought information to you of a lost 'true heir' to the throne being spoken about in the streets.  A coalition of mainly merchants - your middle class - has started to form around this supposed heir, and the people of the streets seem to be turning towards that banner."

She grinned.  "You all have quite good instincts from the stirring things up side, let's see how you do when your objective is order in your country.  Any questions?"

Bel scowled and wrote down one word.

Logan.

Parker's eyebrows rose.

Duh, should've known. Did it make him feel better?

Yeah, I'm sure it made him feel all manly for a change. I should've turned him into a watercooler.

Parker gave him a cock-eyed look of 'hunh?'

Why a watercooler, in particular? Why not a statue or a bunny? Since he's so good at that.

I don't know, just the first thing that came to mind I guess. It just kinda happened when I turned Anders into one.

He got better, I promise.

Parker's eyes had narrowed in anger on reading the first part, then rolled on the second.

Considering what he went through for you, I hope there was a very big apology attached to that 'getting better.' And I don't just mean the Source. You have no idea how bad he felt about Phoebe after you were gone.

Bel twitched and almost snapped his pencil in two.

Yeah, I know exactly what he felt about Phoebe when I was gone.

Parker winced, then wrote down:

Devastated to near-coma drunkeness for both. Then the stupid. Then the soul-crunching guilt.

You *know* what he's like.
demonbelthazor: (Bel is pouting)

Bel, of course, knew soul-crunching guilt. Especially when related to Anders.

Yeah, I know. I got mad, but I got over it.

Good. Are you safe now? No one trying to kill you? No demons after you?

Parker sighed, and rubbed her forehead, then added:

Are we gonna have to do this again, ever?

I hope not, Bel wrote back. I should be safe. The Source is gone and the Underworld thinks I'm dead again. Even if they find out I'm alive they'll probably think I still have the Source's powers and won't mess with me.

Good. Eight weeks. In eight weeks she'd be in her own world, and there would be nothing else she could do for or against Bel. But keep looking for another way out. Nothing's forever.

I kinda got powers again, so I can take care of myself, Bel wrote back.

Parker did not write back 'that's what I'm afraid of.'

Here's hoping. And 'kinda'? They're not the same as before?

Not exactly. I can heal myself now. And turn people into watercoolers apparently.

And was that a good thing, or a bad thing? One less vulnerability. Good thing: less likely to get killed by the minions of the Source. Bad thing: less likely to get killed by anyone human if he went off the deep end.

Piper's problem. Wyatt and Chris's problem. Phoebe's problem, in some fashion. Not hers. Eyes on the prize, Parker. Maybe Bel would make it all the way to 'safe and secure' someday. At least he was still trying.

Can't hurt. If you turn me into anything, though, we'll find out how far that goes!
demonbelthazor: (Shy grin)

Bel snickered.

How about into a nice pair of shoes?

Parker smirked, snorted, balled up the note, and threw it at his head.
