"Alright. I hope you've been practicing what I showed you with loosening up the fingers. Because today we're going to turn that into tunes and chords. Chords are how you change the noise your guitar is making. And as most of you should know, the key is up at the neck."

El picked up his guitar. "Now, I want you to watch me closely and repeat on your own guitars."

El went through a variety of hand positions for chords, stopping to make sure each of the students had them before moving on, sometime helping individual students as merited it.

"I want you to practice playing with these with the same intensity you practiced loosening up your fingers. I know you can't practice all day, every day, but practice as much as you can.

Now that we've got that part out of way, I'll teach you a little tune. Something that you can show off to your friends when they ask you why on earth you're taking this class."

El lead them through a short traditional mariachi tune, the kind of thing he tended to play without thinking about it during his office hours.

"Now, I want you all to practice for the rest of the class, but before, two things. First, next class will be in the Danger Shop, where we will start working on building our guitars. Secondly, I need to know how many of you are capable of reading music.

Also, would Miss Stewart come see me?"

Chad grinned at her, and nodded. "Nadia."

Nadia stared some more. "This is just really weird, now."

Chad's grin remained as he shrugged and admitted, "I think it's kinda cool."

"Where'd you find clothes to fit you?"

Chad shrugged again. "Shapeshifted 'em." He wondered if she noticed how nice and tight they were. Because nice and tight was much easier to maintain.

Nadia nodded slowly. "You look . . . good. And, hey, you're not freaking out, so good for you!"

"Why would I freak out?" Chad asked. Especially when he looked this good.

"Some guys really freak when they randomly wake up as girls. When I randomly woke up as a guy, I freaked for a bit, before I realized I could totally pretend to be someone else and it might be fun. . . ."

Chad considered this thoughtfully for a moment before realizing, "I'm actually surprised I don't wake up as a girl more often."

Okay, that was a new one. "Huh?"

"'Cause, y'know, I...don't have the shapeshifting thing down yet..."

Nadia hadn't actually made it to that cheerleading practice.

"You can shapeshift now, too?"

"Yup." And Chad could not get that grin off his pretty face even if he tried.

Nadia was working her way toward a sulk. Geeze, some people got to develop new, incredibly useful powers, and what'd she get? Dreaming and randomly passing out in places.

Not. Fair.

"Hmph."

"...Sorry?" Chad offered.

"S'not fair," Nadia muttered. "Wish I could shapeshift,"

"Well," Chad leaned on the desk a little and it was a good thing he'd chosen a turtleneck, because his awareness of the female form was a little lacking, "ya could talk to Teddy, but I think he might be a little reluctant. Maybe if we were all drunk..."

Okay, Chad had just lost Nadia completely.

"What does Teddy and being drunk have to do with it?"

"It's 'cause of Teddy that I can shapeshift."

Chad paused; it might have been for dramatic effect or it might have just been because Chad was still Chad despite being a hot Puerto Rican.

But the grin would suggest the former. "Teddy and his alien DNA."

Nadia? Still confused.

"What does Teddy's--oh."

Chad grinned a little more as realization sunk into Nadia and tapped his cute little nose to show her that she'd gotten it.

"A-yup."

Chad? Was convinced that he truly had the best boyfriend ever.

Nadia? Back to just kind of staring at Chad.

It still wasn't fair.

Also, her mind was now filled with images that were alternately kind of making her want to run away or making the whole "crush on Chad" thing not get any better at all, no sir, not at all.

Commence brain breaking.

Chad sat back, stretching a little, satisfied in accomplishing his endevour. Being a girl, for some reason, was empowering him to excell in brain-breakage.
