Chess Club [ 5pm FHT]

Ami was slightly nervous. She had a number of chess boards set up, all identical with black and white wooden pieces. The boards looked well cared for. She still had the handout from last meeting as well as the handout for this meeting.

"Hi everyone" she started nervously. "I thought today we can really start playing. There are boards set up, so go ahead and ask questions don't be afraid. Remember it is ok to ask for strategy help as well. We are all playing for fun here." She twisted a pawn in her hands nervously. "I was also thinking that other schools have Chess clubs and there are tournaments and things. If there is interest in going to something like that, I could talk to the Principal... Oh, and there are cookies in the back."

"So, is anyone interested?" Ami asked, looking around the room.

Turtle Wexler

Turtle was carefully making a stack of cookies in her hand, trying to see how many she could manage at once.

"I'd be interested," Turtle offered. "But only if we win."

"Well, we would have to practice a whole lot and then we could."

Aziraphale settled in with a cup of tea that he'd brought along with him, and watched as the students played, since he'd promised Ami he would work on learning the basics of the game.

At some point a bit later Ami came over. "Hi."

"Good evening, Miss Mizuno," Aziraphale replied, with a smile. "How are things going with the club?"

"I think alright. I do hope others are interested in going to a tournament." She grinned a bit excitedly. "And how are things with you? Were you a small child this past weekend?"

"A tournament sounds interesting. Do have any idea where?"

Chuckling, Aziraphale nodded. "Oh yes, I did spend a couple of days as a child. It really was a fascinating experience."

Alanna Trebond.

Alanna fed Faithful a cookie and hoped that someone was here to actually play.

"I am not sure where, but they happen all over at different High Schools. I have looked this up on the internet. Too bad we cannot just go to Japan. There i know where to go for a tournament." She smiled at his choice of words. "Fascinating?"

Ami was here to actually play. If anyone else looked interested that is.

"I don't see any reason why you can't go to Japan. Wasn't there just recently a trip into outer space?" Aziraphale asked, with a wink.

He nodded over his tea, and said in reply to Ami's question, "I've never had the experience of being a child before. It's something mortals take for granted, I suppose, but for me it was fascinating."

William Kessler

Billy took a cookie. Because cookies were good.

"Have you played much chess?"

"The new principal?"

Alanna bit back a smile. "Some, yeah."

"Me I'm still learning." he said. "Do you play?" he asked Faithful.

"If someone moves the pieces." Faithful said smugly. "He likes to eat the pawns."

Billy snickered. "Have you ever played each other?"

Naomi Wildman

Alanna and Faithful glanced at each. "Too easy." They both said at the same time and scowled. Oh yeah, pets don't resemble their owners at all.

Naomi nodded, "I'd be interested in playing competitions,"

Billy managed not to laugh at that. "That sounds like a challenge."

"Huh" was all Ami said. It had not occured to her to think a trip to Japan would be possible.

"I suppose it is true. And most of us do not really want to experience our childhoods again."

"I hope not"

"I was worried at first that he'd gone evil, but the announcements were so silly I'm thinking not."

"More like he went crazy..." Ami was clearly not very amused.

"Well, I do get the feeling that although there are a few things people wouldn't mind reliving, most don't care for the idea of being such a small child again. And I suppose I can understand that." Aziraphale smiled again. "But it was something."

"I bet." She grinned, imagining wee little wings.

"So, want to learn about this game?"

"As long as he doesn't hurt anyone..."

"I suppose that is true." she shrugged.
