Young Entrepreneurs; Tuesday, 4;00
As promised, there was coffee to be had in the classroom for the Young Entrepreneurs this week; Turtle could be seen pouring lots and lots and lots of sugar and milk into hers. As much as possible to cover up the taste before she got ready to lead today's meeting.
"Today," she said, once the tiny group had congregated, "we're going to talk about Networking."
"One of the most important things you can do for yourself as a future businessperson is to make good connections. Which is what we call Networking. If you know the right people in the right waysnot dirty, you can really get anything done, so it's important to keep in mind who you're getting to know and, most importantly, how they can help you. It sounds kind of harsh, but, if you're really serious about your business endevours and you find yourself hanging out with someone who isn't benefiting you in any way, then, really, aren't you just wasting time? People can be just as much an asset to you as capital, resources, or technology."
"In turn, though, you have to make yourself marketable to other people. Just as you expect people to be worth something to you, they expect you to be worth something to them. So you have to make sure you can prove that you're a valuable asset. Which is what we're going to talk about today. What makes you a valuable asset, to a company, a friendship, whatever? I'll start by saying that I'm a valuable asset because I've built up a strong capital base that allows me to invest easily into new, beneficial pursuits. A potential investor is always something people look for, whether your investing in a opening a whole new branch for buisness, or throwing a friend a birthday party."
"It may sound a little cynical, viewing other people based on their usefulness, but, believe me, shrewd business men don't usually care if you're insulted that they think of you as mere capital. In fact, the best of them are so good that you won't even realize that's how they think." She looked at them all pointedly.
"Oh! And, next week, I want us to start talking about our big project! I want us to try to go into business, selling something, through our own little YE company! So start thinking about what we could possibly do for that."
[[wait for OCD. Up early because I'll be gone most of the evening, woe ]]

Deadpool frowned and slumped slightly in disappointment. "Can I threaten him at least?"

"...Okay," she said, finally, "maybe a wee tiny bit. Not too much."
Then again, Tannim wasn't scared off by her kicks at all, either. She was pretty impressed by that. Figurative iron balls. Because, clearly, experience showed that wasn't the case literally.
