She smiled, "Okay." And she poured in what she considered a tablespoon, which really pretty much was. Possibly a little more. She put away the oil and walked back to stand next to him, staring down at the recipe for the sauce. "I don't know what happened when I made it, it just suddenly got a little lumpy."

Dean frowned. "I think you have to stir it more maybe when you're combining ingredients?" This was slightly out of his experience; generally pasta sauce came out of a can when he cooked.

"Stir more. Got it. Don't think I did that too much the first time. I just sort of threw everything in, gave it a good turn with the spoon, and...that was it. I kind of had to scrape some from the bottom of the pan once. For some reason it stuck. Everything sticks with me. I don't get it."

"Stirring helps with that," Dean said. "Also greasing things first." He grinned at her. "Think of it as proper lubrication."

She raised her brows, staring at him. "Should I have greased the pot first? Before the water and pasta?" Proper lubrication? Annette hadn't lubricated anything.

"Nah, that's what the oil in the water is for."

"Oh." She looked down again.

"Dean?"

She hated feeling embarrassed, but it was evident on her face and in her tone of voice when she asked him, "You won't mention this, to anyone, will you?"

Dean smiled at her. "Your secret's safe with me," he assured her. "I'd never rat out a friend -- especially if she's also my best friend's little sister."

She grinned and looked over at him, "Thanks, Dean. You're sweet."
