Defense Against Malicious Magic - Danger Shop - Monday 1st Period - Squid Pro Quo

A sign on the door to the usual DAMM classroom reminded students that this week's class is taking place in the Danger Shop. To dress warmly and bring a blanket or something else to sit on.

In the Danger Shop, students discover themselves at the end of a small path that leads to a beach with a sign that says, "Nemo Bay". At the end of the path they find Orpheus and four other people. (One of which in a squid tentacle hat.)

"Greetings students! Welcome to Nemo Bay Today we're going to talk about cryptids. A cryptid is a creature, believed to be extinct or legendary and not exactly real. A cryptid can me other worldy or completely mundane. The uncertainty over their existence however imparts a certain mystical air about them. The skunk ape, the long horse, the teal dear, and lake monsters such as Nessie, Champ, and Ogopogo. Exceptionally large creatures who live in exceptionally deep inland bodies of water. The possibility of the existence of these creatures being so important to the local culture... and economy, that laws are passed making the killing of these hypothetical creatures illegal. This is in sharp contrast to creatures like the Chupacabra, which is considered such a menace that politicians run on an anti-chupacabra platform.

Today we're going to learn about a local cryptid, Giant SquidMan. We're meeting today with some leading experts on the subject, you there sir!" Byron flags down a blond man walking by with a cooler. "Could you perhaps tell us a little about how you discovered the legend of Giant SquidMan?"

"Um... Actually, this is how I discover the legend of Giant SquidMan. I'm just the chef. Those guys over there are the ones you want to talk to... I think they're just going to start their... Puppet show."

"Yes! We're ready! Come on over!" A woman in a Giant SquidMan shirt called."

Once the story was over, Chuck (the guy in the yellow rain gear) pops his head back up over the screen. "Any questions?"

Setsuna tried taking notes as well, but it was difficult. She looked a little pale with fear the entire time. Setsuna had personally never had to battle a Squid of any sort, but Squids had tentacles and, well, as an Asian schoolgirl, she had a natural born terror of such things, though she couldn't understand exactly why.

Katara wasn't sure if a Giant Squid was more or less scary than a giant Koi fish. She really didn't want to think about that too much either.

Door... is wondering about Cam-Mollusc now. And whether it's a girl squid or a boy squid. And trying not to imagine why Bridge is taking care of a baby Giant Squid anyway.

So yes, she's frowning as she takes notes.

Squids reminded Tannim of a recent Adventuring Survival Tactics class. (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/1217459.html) His cheeks turned pink and he was very glad that River wasn't in this class.
