There were no treats today, woe and Wilson stood in front of the desk looking more pensive and withdrawn than was his usual attitude but plotting a trip to the Underworld when you were already one short step up from being a demon snack on a regular basis could mess with a guy’s mood.

As the students came in and settled down in to class, Wilson looked up and managed a half smile before he pushed away from the desk and grabbed a stack of handouts.

“Good morning.”

Walking through the rows, he laid out the handouts.

Lecture:

“Today we’re going to be discussing Mediation. Now I don’t want to spend all our time taking notes, so I’ve worked up this handout for you so you can follow along while I hit the highlights but please be aware that all of this material has the potential to show up on your next test.”

Never hurt to give that warning!

“Okay, let’s all start at the top.”

Flipping on the overhead, Wilson began to work his way through the various sections on the handout. He gave particular emphasis to the mediation process but also paused to touch on making a career out of being a mediator and also the ethical responsibilities of being a mediator. As he’d warned he powered through the information so that there was plenty of time left for the class exercise.

Class Activity:

“All right so, today we’re going to get some practice in at being a mediator. I’ve broken you all in to groups of three, two sides of a conflict and a mediator. You can choose within your group who gets to be the mediator but I want an essay from all three of you about what sort of challenges the mediator faced and how they resolved the conflict. Everybody clear on that? Okay, here are your groups.”

[ooc: I know we all have varying amounts of availability. If you don’t have all three members of your group being active, try to focus on the mediator RP side of things. You all have all week to fiddle with this. :)]

"They can learn not to rot their brains on TV," Peter replied.

"Exactly." Annette nodded with an arch to her brow. "Thus, tv's are good and must stay."

"TV's are evil and must go."

"You're evil and must go."

"Ah, but that's not the topic for debate now is it?" Peter replied with a grin.

"TV's make us all come together and enjoy each other's company. They stay." She answered back, daring him to refute that.

"How can you enjoy company when you're focused on the two dimensional people in front of you?" Peter countered.

"Because there is this thing called discussion. Maybe you've heard of it? And who says we are watching people? We might be watching animals. Or space. Or...rocks."

"Aha!" Peter said. "So you admit you talk while the TV is on. That's a little rude, don't you think?"

Annette snickered and pursed her lips, looking away from him for a moment so she didn't bust out laughing.

"It's only rude if there are others around watching the tv too. The tv can actually lead to very important, very informative conversations that are extremely stimulating to ones brain."

"The TV is a crutch," Peter said. "You only think you need it for these conversations."

"Boy, I really feel sorry for your girlfriend."

"Don't have one," Peter admitted.

"But you could, and then I'd feel sorry for her." She nodded. "Don't you know girls like to be cuddled while watching a good movie with their boyfriend?"

"I'd like to think that any girl I was with wouldn't want the distraction."

"Okay, maybe you two should try not insulting each other. It's the first step to getting along!" Summer said with a grin.

"What do you expect?" Peter replied, grinning back. "She's a TV-loving freak!"

"The distraction of what? The TV or your arm around her shoulders?" She grinned and glanced at Summer. "Girls like both, Peter. TV stays!"

"Maybe you can compromise," Summer suggested. "Some nights can be for tv and others for quiet time?"

Annette raised her brows. That was a good idea. "Yes, I think that could work really well, Summer." She grinned at Peter and refrained from sticking her tongue out at him.

Peter pretended to heave a put-upon sigh. "I suppose."

"I'm glad we could all come to this peaceful decision," Summer said with a nod.

"Which we couldn't have done without our mediator," Peter said.

"Right. Cheers to our mediator!"

"I'm glad we can all agree on this, too," Summer said, beaming.
