John was waiting for them outside an old, slightly rundown apartment building, leaning casually against his car.

"Good morning," he greeted them. "Nice to see you all bright eyed and eager. Hopefully you'll still be that way when you finish your detention. Please sign in on the list and take a knapsack."

He indicated a table next to the car which had a pile of knapsacks on it beside a paper that listed their names:

When everyone had done so, John continued. "There's a ghost that's haunting the building behind me. Young women keep disappearing out of locked apartments never to be heard from again. One just disappeared last night out of apartment 309. You are going to find the ghost and stop it. Everything you need to do so is in the pack you've been provided. Once the ghost is no longer a threat, you're free to go."

"If there's no questions, you may begin."

Ami looked at the burgers and was even more glad she had brought her own lunch.

Billy didn't mind the burgers and fries though, he did opt for fruit juice to drink.

Ami had sushi. She glanced at Billy's food and said "Want some of this?" offering him the sushi.

"Sure." Billy said. He wasn't sure what the combination of healthy sushi and junk food would do in his stomach, but he wasn't all that worried. He also didn't feel all that awkward about waking up on the couch with her.

Ami on the other hand? Totally thought it was all awkward. Or at least sort of weird. "Um so... "

"So..?"

"So... um. Maybe we should not fall asleep in the common room next time?" She blushed. A lot. And she was getting so much better at not doing that anymore...

"Would you prefer to fall asleep in one of the dorm rooms instead?" he asked, teasing.

"Um... i mean... um" Ami stammered embarrassedly.

"Hey," he relented. "It's not like anything happened." Not that he'd have minded. "We just slept. I thought it was nice."

"Yeah.. still... um..." Ami wouldn't have minded either if she had... thought of it.

"I'm sorry if it made you uncomfortable." Billy said. "I'll try not to let it happen again."

"No it's not... I'm... it's just..." She flailed.

"Too much too soon?"

Ami totally flailed some more. "Um. just... well... i have never even gone out on dates before, and yesterday, you said i was your girlfriend, and now i am just confused... *facepalm* Ami flailed even more.

Billy wasn't sure what to say to that. Was it too early for them to be calling each other boyfriend and girlfriend?

"I am sorry. I shouldn't be confused but.." More flailing. Like a flailing thing that flailed. She took a deep breath and attempted to pull herself together. "Ok. ARE you my boyfriend? I wouldn't want to presume anything"

"Well just to even the playing feild here, I'm new at this too. I mean i've gone on dates before, but I've never been in what I'd call a relationship." He'd steadily dated girls that really seemed like the idea of boyfriend and girlfriend was insulting.

"So, how many actual dates have we gone on? Two?"

Ami suddenly realized she would really rather like to be in a relationship. With Billy.

Ami tried to count, bending her fingers as she did so. "We went to that movie. I would count skiing. We went to that place yesterday..." she looked at her hand "Three?"

"Works for me, and we've kissed and fallen asleep on the couch together. I'd say that qualifies."

Ami nodded. "I suppose... yes that makes sense." She paused and tilted her head to one side. "Alright. You are my boyfriend. I am your girlfriend. What does that technically mean?"

Billy smiled a bit. Figures that a girl who liked school so much would be somewhat analytical about this. "Well, as far as I know, we keep on with what we've been doing, and don't do that with anyone else."

A grin slowly spread on Ami's face. "Sounds reasonable." She nodded. "Works for me." It was good that it worked for her, because otherwise the fact that she leaned over and kissed him wouldbe a bad idea. But it wasn't.

And Billy gladly kissed her as well.

Some while later, Ami shook her head in wonderment. //"I have a boyfirend. How startling."//
