Novice's Guide to Villains and Villainy - Week 5, Period 3 (Danger Shop)

"Good morning. Dealing with villains takes more than a linguistic tangle, but being quick-witted does help from time to time. There are times when you need to be a good communicator, and there are times when you simply need to be sneaky, strategic and quick on your feet.

This is Rang the Ridiculous. Despite his unfortunate name, Rang is a tyrant. He rules his planet with an iron fist. He also has a death ray pointed at the Earth and isn't afraid to use it. Although he'll probably send a vast army of robots in rocket ships, today he's focused on the death ray. Your task is to infiltrate his fortress of doom, somehow avoid capture by his robot guards and foil his plot by destroying the death ray.

You're welcome to take on this task alone or with a partner or small group. The safeguards are on, so you won't be hurt, but don't let that alter your plan of attack."

It's a big castle-type thing on a distant, badly-colored planet. Mind the moddable booby traps. If you're caught in the traps, you'll just start back at the beginning.

Tori smiled to herself, this situation felt a bit familiar, though last time it was Cam, Hunter and Blake who snuck onto the ship and tried to stop the ray from going off.

She wondered if she should partner up with anyone, ~~if people wanted to~~ or just go at it alone.

[OOC: Ick! Class!]

Deciding to go it alone, Tori steathily ~~hi, ninja!!~~ moved towards the castle, making sure her movement went unnoticed, and managed to get through the door without any confrontation.

Luke ran a hand through his hair and sighed. What was with the evil villains and their obsession with blowing things up?

He carefully crept up to the castle, reaching out with the Force to avoid any guards that might be lurking ~~or giant hunks of meat prepared for hungry Wookiee-types~~, then slipped in through the door.

Luna checked her pack and doubled checked the contents of her pockets before heading off to storm the castle.

~~Which is to say, her player had her wait a moment in case anyone should want to partner up.~~

Sneaking in somewhere? Z could totally do that.

Peter - dressed in his black costume since it makes sense for this class and he was just going to have to wear it later anyway - climbed up the side of the castle to a window. That would save him trouble from some of the booby traps.

Hamlet stealthily made his way through the castle, trying to avoid the more obvious traps. For an ornate castle on a far off world, Rang's castle looked an awful lot as though it were made out of painted cardboard, with metal bits glued onto it.

Robot guards! Old skool style. They have lasers that shoot out of their arm-cannons. If you get shot, you'll just go back to where you entered the fortress (ie: the level gets reset).

Luke caught sight of the robots from around a corner and barely repressed a fit of the giggles.

And he had thought Stormtroopers looked ridiculous.

He poked his head out so they could see him and then ducked back as a blast of laser fire came at him--and hit the wall about a foot above his head.

Less accurate than Stormtroopers.

He sighed. Villains needed to think about reallocating their budgets towards protection if they were going to build world-destroying thingies.

Luke reached into the Force, knocked over the nearest group of robots, then ran like hell.

Hopefully in the correct direction...

Tori spotted the guards, from the shadows where she was hiding and smiled to herself. They couldn't be much worse than the Kelzacks.

She wondered if she should just ninja streak past them or indulge them for a bit. There didn't look to be that many, she could handle them.

Popping out of the shadows and dodging laser fire, Tori hit the robots with a high concentrated stream of water, knocking them down and ~~hopefully~~ causing them to short-circuit.

Looking around and seeing that the robots were on the ground, Tori invoked her ninja speed and ran in what seemed to be the right way.

Spider-Man - yes, when he was in the mask, he thought of himself as Spider-Man - climbed back into the castle and immediately saw the robots. Knowing that his spider-sense wouldn't help him if there was no actual danger, Spider-Man leaped forward and kicked one in the back of the head. "Knock knock!" he said, denting the head. He used that attack to springboard himself over the other robot and down the hall.

Hamlet was deeply unimpressed with the odd looking robot guards until they started firing lasers at him. He barely missed their first barrage off death lasers, and ended up with some singed hair and holes in his jacket because of it. He took a detailed look around the hallway, and was surprised to see a circular metal candelabra hanging from the ceiling over top of the robots.

You'd think that an Evil Supreme Overlord would have noticed something like that.

Pulling out a pocket-knife, he cut at the rope holding up the candelabra until the cord snapped and knocked the robots to the ground. Checking once more to make sure they were really out, he carried on running past them.

Naturally, he keeps the death ray in the throne room. Where else would you keep it? The death ray is building up power. Once it's at full power, the Earth will be destroyed! Well, Buenos Aires will be.

Rang's here, cackling maniacally every so often. He still has his two closest lackeys to guard him. Defeat him somehow (force, trickery, negotiation, other) and destroy the death ray before it's too late!

Tori heard the maniacal laughter, from out in the corridor and knew she had gone in the right direction. She glanced around, seeing that she hadn't been followed by any robots and entered the throne room, ever so quietly hoping not to be noticed just yet.

She eyed the death ray and wondered in a strong blast of water would dismantle it and cause it to short out. It was an idea that would warrant testing, eventually.

Luke walked into the throne room and stared Rang down.

"Stop it," he said.

What? It could totally work.

Hamlet frowned as he surveyed the throne room. Giant death laser? Check. Evil tyrant, laughing maniacally? Check? Faceless minions? Check? Level of interest in saving Buenos Aires? Minimal.

He tried to sneak into the throne room quietly. Things would be easier if he could disable the laser with out Rang noticing him. And if Rang did... well, he'd think of something.

"Message for Mr The Ridiculous! Rang the Ridiculous!" Peter said, leaping into the throne room. "Are you Rang the Ridiculous?"

She's here with her coffee, wondering how her 40th birthday crept up on her so quickly.

Mod away. I'll play ~~Ming~~ Rang for you when I'm around. You're on your own for the rest of the breaking and entering.

Off to Disneyland today, will try to infiltrate the castle to stop the evil plans of Walt's reanimated head (http://youtube.com/watch?v=7WA8QpoHhRQ) and let you know how that goes.

Be sure to wreak havoc on the security guards for me. Jerks.

Bonus points if you piss Goofy off. He dissed my little sister when we were there.
