"Okay," Josh said, looking down at his notes. "Last week we decided on a Valentine's Day dance on Friday, February 16...with a theme of nuclear holocaust and chinchillas."

He blinked. "I'm not pretending like I understand you people." He waved his hand, then pointed at Layla. "You there. I put you in charge. We need a band and advertising. And...chinchillas. I think the nuclear holocaust might be more than our budget can take."

He put his feet up on his desk. "Anything else we need to talk about?"

Chinchillas and nukes! Ah, the holidays.

"How do we normally advertise for these things?" Tyler asked.

"Give out red balloons to all the girls?" Peter suggested.

"We could do that," Tyler said. "With the date of the dance printed on them."

He chewed on a pen. "Want to do a table next week handing out balloons and tickets? I could work any day but Tuesday."

"Perhaps put up signs over the weekend and a table on Monday or Wednesday?" Peter suggested. "Then people have time to plan and such?"

"Sure," Tyler said. "I'll do the table Wednesday." He glanced around the table. "I can make the signs if no one else will, but I'm not really a romantic."

Peter nodded. "I can do it on Monday if we wanted to have a table two days." He grinned. "Should we keep the mushroom clouds off our posters?"

"The chinchillas probably should be alive and not mating, too," Tyler said, with mock-reluctance. "Unless we want to tie this to Jamie's orgy idea."

"...we can't have mating chinchillas? Suddenly this dance sounds like absolutely no fun."

Tyler snickered. "Do you wanna be the one who looks for chinchilla porn for the posters?"

"I say we go with heart-shaped clouds," Peter said. "That way we can combine our messages, love and nuclear death."

Layla squeaked as she got singled out. "Me? But I've never organized something like this before. I mean, I guess I could..."

Josh waved a hand, supremely unconcerned. "Talk to Alanna about it," he said. "She's done this a thousand times."

"...okay, I guess I can do that," Layla replied, looking only slightly less worried.

"Twice." Alanna corrected. "And don't worry, most people won't notice if you mess up."

"That's reassuring, I guess. Of course, that also probably means they won't notice if I don't mess up."

Alanna considered this. "Yeah, probably. But hey, my last dance turned black and white. You can't beat that."

Layla grinned. "Ooh, I remember that. That was fun, in a weird sort of way. And it doesn't seem like weirdness happens twice around here, so at least I won't have to worry about that."

"Nah, you'll probably have to worry about attacking cupids."
