Tremble Foolish Mortals: The Gods and You , Class Five [Period 5, Thursday]

When the students came into class, again being held in the Danger Shop, which was set up to look like a temple amongst some labyrinthine ruins, Ares was playing with a bow and looking far too pleased with himself.

"Afternoon, class," he said. "Today we are going to be talking about two gods who were once very near and dear to me. Their names were, oh, one moment, I have more class appropriate clothing for my TAs," he said, tossing clothing to Krycek and Sam. "Go, put those on."

After waiting for them to get changed, Ares continued. "The two gods I'm talking about today were called Strife and Discord, what they were god and goddess of should be clear from their names, being minor deities, both of them were once in my employ, helping me with the business of being the God of War. Strife," he gestured at Sam. "Apart from being completely incompent at actually doing his job, Strife was everything you could ask for in a lackey, at least until he got killed by that lunatic Callisto."

"Discord." Now Ares pointed at Krycek. "If not as slavishly loyal as Strife, still had her advantages, killer dress sense being one of them, but sadly she also shared Strife's habit of contiually screwing up. For example, this weapon I'm holding here is the Bow of Artemis, and when you get shot with it, it turns you into animal, or if you're an animal it turns you human. Now, Discord got it into her head to shoot my half-brother with the bow, turned him into a pig, and that was a barrel of laughs, unfortunately, she let a couple of pesky mortals get their hands" An arrow magically appearing as he drew the string back, Ares fired the bow at Krycek. "And, well, that happened."

Where Krycek had been standing, there was now a leather clad rooster.

"Now the only way to turn him back into a human is with the bow, and I hope for young Mr Krycek's sake that Miss Carter here is better at her job than Strife was, as I'm not just going to give it to her," Ares said. "You have half the class to help you get the bow, and the other half are going to protect it from you. Good luck."

And with that, Ares vanished into the ruins.

She was thinking outloud, "Well, one of us could always try an seduce Ares, you know, and snatch the bow. Or one seduces and distracts him, and another moves in to snatch the bow." Hey, it could work.

Annette shrugged a shoulder, managing to look a little sheepish.

Annette grinned, "I think you should try it. You'd be way better at it than me." She nodded, raising her brows.

Isabel's eyebrows raised as well, not sure what Annette was implying. "Cranky God of War? My sense of self preservation is a little too well-honed. I'll pass."

Annette wasn't implying anything whatsoever; she just thought she'd pass her suggestion on to anybody else who would actually do it. Cause...she was a bit of a chicken.

"Maybe we can talk someone else into doing it?" She said with a hopeful grin. "You know, we are going to have to get through the protectors first. We need to be devious." She wiggled her brows. Annette loved being sneaky.

"Possibly," Isabel agreed. "But you're right about the protectors. And I happen to know," she said, pointing at Jack. "That he could probably be easily distracted by a smile and a pretty face. And it would be a hell of a lot more fun then dealing with Cranky Leatherpants."

She looked over to where Isabel was pointing, and said, "I don't know Jack, but I think I am inclined to agree with you about Cranky Leatherpants. If we can take care of all the protectors, then it will definitely be easier to retrieve that bow." She nodded.

He fired off an arrow at Annette.

Little Annette bunny eyes blinked up at the other students, and she hopped around in a circle, wondering what in the heck happened to her.

"I could always hit him," Molly said, eyeing Ares. God or not, she was pretty sure she could take him.

Rikku crouched down and gestured for her group members to come in closer. She hadn't been this focused since - well, since she stood on her dad's airship and they flew right up to Sin. She spoke quickly and, for once, with a minimum of bounce.

"Okay then. We're at a disadvantage, because they know we're coming. But we've got a possible advantage, too, because right now, they're gonna be scrambling to figure out how they're gonna protect it. That's why I think we need to make this fast. No surveillance, not too much planning, something quick and effective. We hit them before they've finished plotting. I say we go basic: take a core group to move to the front, cause a big distraction, and let one or two people slip up the back and get a clear shot at Ares. Can anyone here do magic? And can we use magic during class?"

What she wouldn't give for one of her smoke bombs right now. Stupid office.

Valentine stared stupidly in disbelief at Rikku and shrugged. "I'm good at distracting, not so good at magic. But my balls-not dirty-can cause quite the fireworks if I throw them hard enough."
He pulled one of his juggling spheres out from the folds in his ... bedsheet. It started to glow in his hand.

Rikku grinned at him. "Perfect! We'll just need a couple good moments, and those should do the trick."

She considered. "It seems like we're losing some of our team to - uh, fuzziness. That might kinda derail things."

Valentine seemed somewhat chagrined at the thought. "They honestly should know better, shouldn't they?" He pulled a few more of the spheres from the folds in his bedsheet. How he managed to get them to all stay in there, the world may never know. "Turning into little furry things like that."
These balls started to glow as well, and he offered a few to Rikku. "To be on the safe side, best there be more than one of us throwing these things."

That was actually a semi-decent plan.

Pity Ares decided to derail it by shooting Valentine.

Rikku scratched her head. "Okay, thanks for the glowy things. Looks like I'm on my own, then." She nodded at the much fuzzier Valentine. So much for that.

Krycek was just glad not to be adorable and wee. That didn't stop him from eyeing Valentine like he was some sort of threat to his chicken-hood though.

Sam listened to the suggestions and nodded approvingly. "Ares will be the most difficult to distract. Kawalsky and Alanna are going to be almost impossible to get around, tactically, so we may have to try and convert them to our side if we can't take them out early."

"What kind of distraction do we have? Any suggestions?"
