Advanced Tactics, Tuesday, Period 7

When the students arrived in the Danger Shop, Professor Harrington wasn't anywhere to be found. Instead, Thursday Next was waiting for them. "Hello," she greeted once everyone was gathered. "Professor Harrington was unable to make it today. I'm Thursday Next and I'll be your substitute. Today's topic is meant to be a tactics lab about the Age of Steam.

The Age of Steam led to steel ships powered by steam engines instead of the wooden boats and wind sails you would have covered before. Ramming became popular again, the torpedo was developed, land mines and dreadnoughts arrived and sailors finally caught on to the idea of camouflage. The 20th century brought about the introduction of submarines. If you need any further detail, Professor Harrington will be happy to answer your questions if you contact her, or there are books in the library on this topic.

Let's blow something up, shall we?

A steam-powered enemy ship is headed towards you. You can choose to be on a steam-powered ship of your own or defending a land fort. You have gun turrets with automatic cannons, torpedos and your ship at your disposal. Defend yourself and your people. You can team up if you'd like."

It was probably a good thing that Admiral Harrington wasn't here. The tactics Sokka used were far from advanced.

He hopped up to the controls of one of the gun turrets on the ship and started firing madly at the enemy ship, without waiting for any of the other students.

A few moments later he started hollering "LEFT! GO LEFT!" without regard to whether anyone was actually at the wheel.

Teddy looked up at the slightly psychotic Sokka, then over at the ship hurtling toward them. He did this few more times before sighing and turning the damn wheel left.

As the ship came around, giving Sokka a better shot at the target, he started whooping and hollering.

"YOU DA MAN!" he shouted at Teddy. "YOU. DA. MAN!!!"
