Today, the classroom had pillows. Lots and lots of pillows. The Doctor was standing, with a smug grin on his face. When everyone had gathered, he spoke.

"Sex. If you're going to get all righteous and uptight on me, you're officially excused out the door right now and you can go watch Davey and Goliath clips on YouTube or whatever it is you boring people do. Anyone leaving?"

He paused, just in case anyone did.

"Now this isn't your stupid and silly tab a into slot b lesson. That... well, frankly, that's boring. I'm sure Mr. Harkness could share his expertise for multiple, well, yes, I'm not here to talk about what two humans can do with their block and tackle, right? This is about what happens when you get really friendly with a nice blue girl with mandibles or a scaly fellow who doesn't have lips. So now, please bear with me."

And then the doctor launched into a lengthy lecture. With gestures. Dolls and bizzare plushies as Visual aids. And some possibly psychologically scarring content about what one does with horns, mandibles, scales, tails, and, of course, tentacles.

"So now, pair up, one of you pretend to be a creature with different physiology, and chat each other up. If you need some ideas, there's some ~~tentacle porn~~ magazines under some of the pillows. No actual sex in my classroom, please. I'd get sacked, and that would be a bad thing. So... go ahead and do what comes naturally, eh?"

Isabel stepped forward without thinking. Sharing space the closest she could get to hugging him for the moment. "Just relax. It's okay."

Rose cursed again when it fell through she picked it up and handed the earpiece to Isabel. "I suppose you've to give this to Sam." She looked at Jack, it was hard to see him clearly and her heart thudded. He looked so much like a ghost. Was this how her Jack looked, after? She straightened, her face locked into a fierce, determined expression. "We'll get you back, Jack. You'll not die here, you'll not die EVER." Again. "Not while I'm here."

Jack didn't understand why Rose was so vehement, but it cemented his suspicion that she knew him, or was going to know him, somewhere in his future and her past. "Rose, it's okay. I promise. This place, strange things happen, but they pass. I promise." No, he had no basis for making that promise, but he made it anyway. Somehow he felt she needed to hear it.

Isabel tucked the earpiece in her pocket, making a mental note that she was going to have to talk to Rose at some point when this was all over. Nobody got that attached that fast. "He's right. This will be over soon. We'll stop it."

Rose didn't say anything for a long time, her first impulse was to sprint him away and pull him into the TARDIS, let the Doctor do his thing and lock away Jack until this whole thing blew over. Come to think of it, she'd also like to lock the Doctor away too just to be sure.

"Strange things I'm used to, strange things affecting people I--" love "--like I don't like much." Then she turned to Isabel really looking at her for the first time, her look was perhaps a touch too intense than she thought it was. "Take care of him, tell this Sam too. I'm sure you think it's presumptous coming from a stranger and should go without saying but humor me, please."

Rose nodded at Jack. "Take care of yourself, Jack, don't go disappearing until we've done something."

Yup, definitely having a talk with Rose at some point. Isabel nodded slowly, "I will. We take care of each other. We're family."

Jack lifted his head to look at Isabel and smiled. "Yeah," he said huskily. "We're family."

He looked back at Rose and said, "They'll keep me safe," before stepping back into Isabel.

She looked at Jack and Isabel wistfully, remembering how that felt like. "Yes," she said, not specifying wether she meant family or that Isabel and Sam would keep him safe. "You'll live a long time yet, Jack Harkness."

"I intend to, Rose. I intend to." This had exhausted him. "Izzy? Can we go back to Sam now?" Internally, he cringed at how pathetic that sounded, but right then, it was all he wanted.

"Of course we can," Isabel said gently. "Let's go." Entirely focused on Jack, Isabel turned and headed back to the dorms without saying goodbye.

Rose didn't move from her spot, watching Jack leave with Isabel, watching until they were gone.

"Yeah," Rose murmured, softly stirring herself. "Yeah."

She glanced inside the classroom, the Doctor was still in but she didn't see him only then did she turn away.
