Sociology of Space Travel, Thursday, 6th Period

Laura was seated at the front of the room, wearing a heavier sweater and jeans. In fact, students filtering in likely noticed, as she did, that the temperature of the room was actually quite a bit below normal.

The sign in sheet rested on the corner of the desk, next to the blue books and copies of their assigned essay questions. "Please sign in, and then grab a blue book and one of these sheets," she said, waving one of the essay papers in the air. "Then take a seat, and I'll explain what we're doing with this."

After a few moments, the bell rang, signalling the beginning of class. Roslin removed her glasses and rose. She took a position at the front of the room, folding her arms across her chest. "I apologize for the temperature in here, all. I've been trying to adjust the temperature over the past hour, and it's simply going nowhere."

She sighed. "Now, about the quiz today. We're going to do things a little differently. I want you to split off into pairs, and work together on the essay questions. Challenge each other, ask questions, play devil's advocate. Write down your responses and hand them in. Once you've done that, you're free to leave and, hopefully, get warm."

With a smile, she resumed her seat and began working on her own document.

[OCD threads coming up, including the essay questions.]

Kaylee smiled at Naomi. "Hello. Want to work on this together?"

Naomi smiled in response, "That'd be great," she said.

"Which one would ya like to work on first?" Kaylee asked.

Naomi read over the two questions, she decided against picking up the sheet of paper knowing what would happen, "they both sound interesting," she commented, "but I think the second one would be good to begin first,"

Kaylee read over the question again before giving her opinion. "I think the program oughtta be continued cause space exploration is important. It could lead to contact with other planets and such."

At least in her future.

Naomi nodded, "I know my future would be very different and it possibly wouldn't exist if they had stopped the NASA space program," she said, "I also think it should be continued because Earth would most likely miss out on the chance to improve itself,"

"Exactly," Kaylee said, writing all of this down.
