Language classes Thursday

I'm very pleased at how yesterday went, so today again will be completely oral excercises. These means, choose a partner or two and carry on a conversation for the duration of the class period, in any of the langugages we are studying in class. I will be grading you on accuracy, pronounciation, and how you explain yourself in anything but English should you hit a snag in your vocabulary so far.

Remember to sign up for an in-class presenation if you have not. Friday is the last day signups will be accepted.

I hope you all enjoyed the excursion last time.

What were some of the differences you noticed in your perception of the school? Of the world around you? Did you recognize buildings and people around campus?

I found it intriguing that the lessening of color perception was more than made up for by the ability to perceive minute detail and track movements that are too swift for human eyes to follow.

Also, buildings that seem tall to human eyes are dizzying monoliths to feline eyes, and all our schoolmates have a distressing tendency not to watch where they're going.

The small do tend to be ignored by the large.

What about finding your way around? Did you know what buildings we passed?

Some of them, yes, but not by sight. The cafeteria, for one, smelled quite overpoweringly of chicken. And the scent of formaldehyde coming from the Science building was unpleasant to feline senses.

I think you are adapting to the perceptions of a cat very well.

It felt very familiar in an odd sort of way. I ~~was trained~~ have learned to use all of my senses when ~~planning an infiltration or attack~~ first going to a new place, so this was perhaps not as disorienting for me as it might otherwise have been. My tail, on the other hand, was a constant distraction. I kept catching a glimpse of it out of the corner of my eye and then finding myself chasing it.

As young cats often are, yes.

As I noted in my first homework assignment, being able to sense time via smell was disconcerting at first. And as Mr. Samuelle said, the tail takes some getting used to.

Aside from the cafeteria, the gun range smelled of something I couldn't identify; cordite, perhaps?

Quite probably.

Do you think you would be able to make your way to the dorms as a cat, simply using your sense of smell?

I think that I *might* be able to do so, but I'd prefer someone to be with me just to be on the safe side.

Professeur Rêve? Je pense que j’ai encore besoin d’instruction en Allemande. J’ai les fondamentaux de la langue, ben sûr, mais j’ai de la difficulté avec la grammaire et en exprimé des idées plus compliquées. Avez vous quelque chose pour me donné plus de l’aide au sujet?

Souhaitez-vous converser en allemand?

Oui, s’il m’aidera. Presque tout que je connais en Allemande se réfère à l’alcool ou à la philosophie, à cause d’un ami que j’ai d’Allemagne. Il serait bon de pouvoir parlé sur des autres sujets. Des matériels supplémentaires à lire serait apprécie aussi.

Last time we began studying runes. I do want you to use them in conversation, which I admit will be limited. However, do be careful as you speak as runes are very powerful.
