As seen on tv: Forensic Science, 1/31 5th Period

The box of lab coats is next to door of the danger shop and Abby is perched on a lab counter, flipping a DVD in the air. After checking the class over for a few minutes, she hopped off and started pacing.

"We've got a blood free class today and I hopefully that makes some of you happy. Today we're going to do two of the things that I hate doing. But that doesn't mean that you have to hate today's class. Maybe you'll love it. Maybe your new favorite class with be today's class on..." Abby walked over to the overhead projector and turned it on, illuminating a worksheet on toxicology. "...stomach contents!"

Abby launched into an extremely handwaved lecture on how to test stomach contents. "Also, you're going to pouring over security camera tape to find the bad guy. It's like looking for a needle in a black and white really grainy haystack. Not a favorite thing of mine to be doing, but if you're into that sort of thing you'll have a ball."

Opening the door to the crime scene, Abby moved to show the students the layout. Chad lay slumped in a chair at a very fancy table in a wealthy looking room. Chad's shirt had greyish looking vomit drying on it and the leftovers of dinner were still on the plates in front of him. "This is Chad. Poor dead Chad died before he finished his dinner. I wouldn't recommend nabbing anything off the plate though. You need to figure out how Chad died and who did it. You'll do that by using the skills we talked about in class earlier."

"Go get 'em!"

Ask the "dead" person questions!

[Chad isn't really dead so normal playing rules apply, don't do anything to the character without checking with the mun first.]

"Hi dead Chad. When did you die? And from what?" She also looked round to see if there were any other injuries. "Anything else odd about your body? Any sign of struggle?"

Chad took in a slight breath (dead people don't breathe, Yasutora, geez) as he reminded himself that answering what he was thinking about Ami's 'anything else odd about your body' question was probably not a good idea.

He tried to make sure he got all of her questions, though, without making it too easy. "I died 'bout quarter after six. Think there was somethin' wrong with the food."

Will shook her head as she looked over the crime scene. "You know, Teddy's going to be disappointed when he hears that you've died." She smiled, and looked over her question sheet. "So, Chad, eat anything usual for or with your dinner?"

Chad couldn't help grinning a little at that. "Make sure he gets my guitar, 'kay? An', no, nothing out of the ordinary."

Mac is much, much happier when there's a lack of blood. She wandered on over to Chad, worksheet in hand. "Hey there, Chad," she greeted. "How's death treating you?"

Chad shrugged. "Not so bad. Kinda liked this shirt, though."

He'd been assured that the fake vomit would wash off, but he worried.

Lucas kept his distance from the really big guy. "Hi," he waved and looked at the checklist. "Okay, uh, when did you die, how did you die, were there any other injuries and are you allergic to anything?"

Chad did his best to follow the string of questions. "Uh, six fifteen, poison, only my pride, an' no, no allergies."

He was proud of himself for getting them all, because he was worried he'd forget one of 'em.

Lucas wrote all this down, turned to leave, then stopped and turned back. "Thanks." He jabbed his pencil into the air over his shoulder. "I'm going to go find the person who did this and reveal their identify in an unnecessarily dramatic way."

"Hey, Chad," Lana said with a smile. "Nice to see you. Sorry you're dead. So, time and cause of death? Any other injuries?"

Chad grinned. "Nice to see you, too, Lana. Six-fifteen, poison, rest of me's fine."

"Hi Chad. Ewww," Parker made a distasteful face at the vomit, and asked, "So, what would I find inside your stomach? And did it kill you?"

"Yeah, it killed me," Chad said, "an' you'll find a lot of partially digested food an' poison."

He considered the vomit with a frown. "Maybe not a lot."

Rikku hopped down next to the "dead" guy. "Heya! So, did anything taste funny? Did you eat some of everything on the tray? And, uh, is there anything else I should ask?"

"Nothin' tasted funny," Chad assured Rikku, "an' yeah, I ate a bit of everything. An' you should probably ask if I have any other injuries." He paused. "Everyone else has been, anyway."

"Ew." Billy grimaced. Yeah. Blood and guts? He was totally fine. Vomit however grossed him out.

"So, Chad. Let's start with cause and time of death."

And Billy didn't have to clean it off his shirt later. Imagine how Chad felt.

"Cause: poisoning. Time: about a quarter after six."
