Byron actually walks into the classroom today and lets the students settle down.

"Greetings students! I trust you all had an... eventful weekend. Today we will discuss the sacred Riddle Game. No doubt most of you have heard or read about the Greek sphinx, who asks a riddle of all who pass by. Eating the ones who are unable to answer her riddle and throwing herself off her perch when a correct answer is given. Likewise the sanctity of the Riddle game is touched upon in more recent popular fiction such as with the character 'Gag' in There And Back Again and 'Mona the Monorail' in the Dim Highrise series. More traditional stories, such as Rumplestiltskin, hint to us that creatures which seem to be the embodiment of chaos are actually bound by a few, very ridged, laws. Esoteric though they may be to our minds."

Optional reading about riddles is passed out.

"In each case, the protagonist and the antagonist engage in a Riddle Game and the fact that the game is still ongoing keeps the antagonist from attacking. Since they don't dare violate the sanctity of the Riddle Game. This can be instrumental in defeating a malevolent creature, or at least buy you some time.

But it helps to be good at riddles.

So today, I would like you to pair up and have a riddle game of your own. We're going to have a little tournament. Winners of the first round will report to me and I will pair you off for the second round, and so on, the last student will face me."

"I was going with 'men,' but specific examples would still qualify as a correct answer."

"Who was it?" Jo asked.

"It wasn't anybody, because he never bothered to come home." Back. She meant back. Dammit.

"Wow," Jo said. "What a dick."

Door shrugs. "I don't care if he changed his mind." Yes, she does. A little. "But he could've at least had the balls to come back and say so."

"Maybe you should relieve him of them," Jo suggested. "Since he's obviously not using them."

"From the sound of him on the radio last night he's been using them everywhere else."

"All the more reason to," Jo said. "Since he can't be trusted to be responsible with them."

Door starts to nod, then sighs and slumps a little in her seat. "I don't want to cut his bits off. I just want to know what everything else on this island that moves has, that I don't."

Jo leant forward to rub Door encouragingly on the shoulder. "Class?"

Door smiles a little, then says, "...Wait, they have class and I don't?"

Jo flailed. "That's not what I meant!" She yelped. "You totally have class. More class than them. Very very classy!"

Considering 'them' seems to be 'everybody in Fandom' the way a certain drunken Irish roomie was talking, Door kinda doubts that. "Really?"

"Really," Jo nodded. "Totally classy. I mean I would choose you over anyone else on the island."

And any second she'd realise how much of a come on that sounded like.

Door snorts. "Well, that would solve the 'men suck' problem."

And this was Jo trying very hard not to flail so Door wouldn't get the wrong idea, well the other wrong idea. "Exactly, and he would have to live with the knowledge of what he was missing out on."

"...Actually I somehow get the feeling he'd enjoy the idea." At least the Seely who'd been wandering round the isalnd this weekend would.
