[Media Studies & Communication: Week 3, 5th Period]

Logan was sitting on his desk, as usual, when the students filed in. The screen was rolling through a slide show of print ads from magazines from many eras and for many different products. The coffee machine was burbling happily in the back of the class for anyone interested.

On each desk, there was a laptop, all of them on and connected wirelessly to the school network. Alongside each was a handout.

"Morning, guys. This week we'll be looking at printed media, specifically advertisements. Your assignment is to look through the archives of ads provided and choose one in particular that you think does its job - in other words, the logo, the color scheme, something about the ad makes you interested in the product. Then choose one that does the opposite, or that you feel wasn't executed well somehow."

Logan turned slightly where he was sitting and typed something on a keyboard on his desk, bring up a couple of advertisements [ooc: warning, large image] on the screen behind him. "Once you've done that, we'll bring them up for everyone to see and you can tell us why it is you chose them. Everyone's encouraged to give their opinion on the advertisements you chose as well."

[ooc: Syllabus // Wait for OCDeeeeee is done. If you need me for anything, I'll be around all day, just slowish as am at work.]

Buffy had woken up in her room, which was probably sheer luck, she considered. Then the weekend had come back to her, and now she was more busy composing a 'omg I am so sorry!' speech to give Dawn and D'anna than looking at ads.

"I like this one (http://www.adflip.com/images/ecards/13257.jpg)," said Pam. "It's very...straightforward."

Pam was speaking very, very carefully so that she wouldn't accidentally whistle or anything, and was carring herself weirdly - as though she had a very achey back.

"Nice shoes," Buffy said appreciatively.

Zero looked suspiciously at Pam. "Don't I know you from somewhere?"

"Um." Pam, sometimes, didn't have a lot of foresight. "We met over the weekend. I was a little...more in a swimsuit."

And that? That would be a look of great glee.

"I like this one (http://adsoftheworld.com/files/images/Globus_Wannabe_Owl.jpg), because it's all funny and cute!" Buffy said.

"I like this one, because you can't just glance at it an' move on, you have to actually look at it for a minute to figure out what's goin' on, an' if they can hook you for more time, well, that's bein' effective."
