Hunting 101 - Class 2 (Wed period 7)

When students entered the Danger Shop they found themselves standing outside a large slightly rundown house. John was waiting for them, leaning comfortably against the side of an old impala. Beside him was a table, with the sign in sheet as well as another list of names paired up. It was also piled high with knapsacks.

"Welcome to our first practical class," John greeted them with a smile. "This is where we find out how well you apply what you've learned so far. Behind me is Elrod Manor. It's haunted by the ghost of a woman who was named Cassandra Elrod. She was killed by her husband Mark Elrod, who happened to be a serial killer. The legend goes that she found some rather grisly evidence of his activities and to keep her quiet he killed her and hid her body in the house.

"Since then her ghost has been seen countless times by many different people. They describe a very beautiful but sad woman who has appeared throughout the house but always disappeared at the end of the hallway on the second floor. There's also been an unusual number of accidents resulting in injury or death have occurred here. All of the victims have been married men. Those that have survived the attack describe a woman with features more horrific than beautiful."

He looked around at his students. "You're assignment is to lay her ghost to rest. Each of you will get one of this knapsacks that have everything in them that you should need to accomplish that. You'll work in pairs and each pair will go into the house in turn. As none of you are, to the best of my knowledge, married men, you should be relatively safe unless you antagonise her. My advice?" He smiled slightly. "Don't."

"Please pick up a knapsack and check the list to see who you are paired with and we'll get started."

When the students look inside the knapsacks they will find a flashlight, an EMF meter, an Infrared Thermal Scanner, a container of salt, lighter fluid and matches.

The list of pairings is as follows:

Jo Harvelle, Tannim Drake
M. Parker, Neil Parry
Isabel Evans, Dick Casablancas
Mealka Fray, Buffy Summers
Setsuna Sakurazaki, Liz Sherman
Blair Sandburg, Sokka
Chris Halliwell, Wyatt Halliwell
John Connor, Edward Elric and Luna Lovegood

When everyone had got their equipment and found their assigned partners. John grinned at them wolfishly. "So, who's first?"

[ooc: wait for ocd's are up! Have at it. :)]

Oh look, a likely trunk, just under the window sill. Isabel stepped warily past the ghost and tried to open the trunk.

"What was that all about?" asked Dick. He headed towards the corner where the ghost disappeared.

"Is there anything in that trunk?" he asked before he tried to open any of the others.

A little alien fu and the trunk was open, exposing a bunch of old journals. "No body," Isabel said. "Looks like we need to dig into that pile."

Dick nodded and started moving the boxes in order to reach a trunk. "Well it smells like death over here. Even worse than the fridge."

Wrinkling her nose, Isabel lifted a box. "Lovely."

Isabel wound up knocked across the room onto her ass. "Okay," she said slowly. "She's not happy."

"Seriously." says Dick, who had froze on the spot when he saw the now hideous ghost. "We're close to finding the body."

"Why don't you get the salt ready? I'll take care of the moving now." Keeping a wary eye out, Isabel held out her hand and removed the last of the boxes from on top of the trunk.

"Gotcha." says Dick. He rifles through the bag and pulls out the salt. He flips open the cap and turns so he can see the whole room in order to keep an eye out for the ghost.

Dick hit the ground, hard. The salt can slipped out of his hand and began to roll away. He crawled after it quickly.

While Dick went after the salt, Isabel dove towards the trunk to try and open the lock.

Dick only had to go a few feet in order to grab the salt. He picked himself up off the floor and ran over to the trunk.

"Need a hand?" he asked. He wasn't sure he could open it without a tool or something.

"Thanks, but no. I've got it covered." A moment's concentration and the lock was open. She flipped the lid back to expose the bones of the ghost.

"Cool!" says Dick, grinning. He rifled through the bag and took out the lighter fluid and matches.

"I'll salt, you light?"

Re: Attic

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
"You salt," Isabel nodded, but then held up her hand. "I'll light. Plus I'll be able to keep it controlled enough that we don't burn the house down."

Re: Attic

[identity profile] surferboy-09er.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Wow! Best partner ever!" says Dick. He took the salt can and practically emptied the whole thing on the bones, making sure to hit every part.

Re: Attic

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
"I can occasionally be useful to have around." Holding her hand closely over the bones, Isabel focused on them until they were hot enough to ignite.

Re: Attic

Dick crossed his arms over his chest and watched the bones light.

"We totally rock!" says Dick, laughing. "And it was kind of fun in a totally horrifying way."

Re: Attic

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
She waited till the bones were dust before waving her again and smothering the flames. "It was. But I don't think I could do this as a living. Hopefully Cassandra can rest in peace now."

Re: Attic

[identity profile] surferboy-09er.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah." says Dick, who was throughly glad to be rid of the ghost since he found out she was hideous. "Good work, partner."

Re: Attic

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Isabel held out her hand. "You to, partner."
