Last time we looked at the Villanovan period of Rome. Now, we're looking at some Grecian stuff. Let's look at some temples and talk about the religion associated with them. *turns off lights and puts up slides*

Homweork: Write me a small paragraph about the Parthenon's archaeological significance. What was it made for? What mythological scenes appear on the friezes and metopes? And don't forget to hand in any missing assignments.

Since there are only four of us now, I thought it would be kind of fun to spend the next few weeks looking at some key passages in Herodotus' Histories and look at the propaganda aspect of his work. Since we're not here to translate, I got the best translation I could find.

Homework: Read Book 1 by Monday. ((OOC: Don't worry about it. I'm not reading it in its entirety, so you don't either O_o)) And hand in any assignments that are missing.

Beka stalks in looking like a wet cat. But it's Dr. Jackson's class, so she's carrying two large cups of very hot coffee of the best kind and as soon as she sees "Special delivery." It's not him she's mad at, so she pouts instead of snarling.

"Always my pleasure, Dr. Jackson." But if you turns off the lights, we can't pout cutely! Beka watches the slides, taking notes, til one catches her attention. She raises her hand.

OMG no, you must continue to teach! The rotunda form seems to be preferred for temples dealing with female deities, and also death. Is there a death/rebirth/womb link somehow to the cycle of life? Or is the shape preferred for architectural stability?

(OOC: *big geek* Hee!)

*preens* Thank you, Dr. Jackson. Likes being good Beka.

*slips into the back of class*

*writes down homework*

*note to self: find out office hours, get homework to makeup, avoid detention*

Waits for class to be over to ask...

Thomasina arrives at the anthropology classroom on time and slips into a seat towards the middle-back of the room. She is organised, as always, and when she sees that the slide projector is once again set up, she happily opens her exercise book in preparation for taking notes on another series of interesting images.

Sonia finds her seat and begins taking notes, per usual. She perks up a bit at the mention of Athena.
