fandomhigh | Superheroing 101- Tuesday, January 16- 2nd period

When the students have arrived, Captain Liberty gives them all a big smile. Last week's cardigan has been completely done away with. It was annoying and didn't go with the outfit.

"Welcome back! Today's going to be a pretty easy day, but don't think it's less important," she tells them. "Last week you took on superhero names. This week you're going to try to protect them. This is kind of an improv exercise, something you end up having to do a lot of in superhero work. Pair up. One of you will be the superhero keeping a mild-mannered and very ordinary facade going, and the other will play a close friend or family member who's just found something typing you to your superhero. Maybe they noticed that you look a lot alike, or hey, you didn't show up to your best friend's party because you were saving a train full of people or something. Do whatever you have to to keep your superheroness a secret, short of punching anyone because then I have to give detention. Be as creative as you want, and try to pair up with people you don't know. If you need help with anything, I'll be around, as will my TA, Princess Powerful. Have fun with it, guys."

So I'll be around a little tonight, and Tuesday until about 8:30 am PST. Not sure how long I'm working, but will pick up any pings when I get back.]

Barbara looks up at Peter, a sly smile on her face. "I'm secretly in love with you."

Peter snickered. "That better not by why I saw you with those handcuffs."

"Oh, those? Magic act for the school magic club. We're doing something for the talent show."

Peter affected a put-upon tone. "That where you learned how to disappear? I had dinner on the table for hours last night and you never showed."

"Oh, sweetie..." Barbara pats Peter on the shoulder. "I would have showed up if you'd ordered Chinese take-out."

"My cooking isn't good enough for you?" Peter gave her sad eyes.

"Oh...it's not that. It's just what caused me to not show up. I was at the doctors. Something disagreed with me."

"You're sick?" Peter asked. "Oh my god, honey, are you okay? What did the doctor say? Do you need me to get a prescription?"

*blink*

"I'm fine. Now. Really." She's tempted to kiss him on the cheek, because, oh-so-cute, but really, that's totally off-topic.

"But I think you're keeping something from me."

"Me?" Peter tried to look innocent. "What makes you say that?"

"Well, for the past couple of weeks your cooking has sucked, like, royally. And it doesn't usually do that. Clearly, you're busy elsewhere. And there's the fact that I wake up in the middle of the night, and ohmygosh, there's no one next to me. Care to share?"

"I've really gotten into watching Letterman when it airs," Peter said. "I know I can always Tivo it, but it's not the same."

"We eat dinner long before Letterman."

Peter pretended to sniffle. "You said you liked my eggplant casserole."

"I do!!! Usually!" Barbara stops and sighs. "Stop hiding and come out of the oven."

"I'm just wondering what else you haven't been honest about with me," Peter said. "First it's eggplant, next it's who knows what."

Barbara sighs. "I know. I'm sorry. I should have been more honest with you before." Barbara sighs and places her hands over Peter's. "I'm taking classes at the local community college."

Peter gasped. "I thought you already graduated!"

"I have. I'm just trying to learn more about computers and stuff. You know, to get a job. Now...you want to tell me more about what you're doing that's not Letterman? I mean...really...your body's gotten a lot better lately. Watching Letterman doesn't do that."

"So now my cooking sucks and I used to be fat," Peter said. Though he couldn't really hide the grin too well. "Are you trying to tell me you want to start seeing other people?"

"Nope." Barbara winked at him. "I'm only interested in you, Smart Alec."

Peter clutched at his chest as though shocked. "Oh no! How do you know that name?"

Barbara narrows her eyes. "It's been all over the news, wise guy. And the sketches? Looks totally like you."

"But I wear glasses in my other identity!" Peter said.

Barbara blinks. "Because clearly glasses are the best way to keep a secret."
