When the students have arrived, Captain Liberty gives them all a big smile. Last week's cardigan has been completely done away with. It was annoying and didn't go with the outfit.

"Welcome back! Today's going to be a pretty easy day, but don't think it's less important," she tells them. "Last week you took on superhero names. This week you're going to try to protect them. This is kind of an improv exercise, something you end up having to do a lot of in superhero work. Pair up. One of you will be the superhero keeping a mild-mannered and very ordinary facade going, and the other will play a close friend or family member who's just found something typing you to your superhero. Maybe they noticed that you look a lot alike, or hey, you didn't show up to your best friend's party because you were saving a train full of people or something. Do whatever you have to to keep your superheroness a secret, short of punching anyone because then I have to give detention. Be as creative as you want, and try to pair up with people you don't know. If you need help with anything, I'll be around, as will my TA, Princess Powerful. Have fun with it, guys."

"Yeah, well, heroes suddenly got in a huge fight over it," Cassie said. "And people are dying over whether or not we should be allowed to keep them. Secret identities."

"... Oh."

Okay, that sucks.

"Yeah," Cassie said. "Stupid government."

"Well... I suppose, if you decide to try and have a secret identity it's doubly important that you be able to keep it well."

"Too late," Cassie said. "I'm registered."

"So you just need a secret-secret identity. I mean, sure, people know that Cassie Lang is Ant-Girl because of some silly law... But do they know that there's anything unusual about..."

Pippi thought for a moment.

"Veronica Not?"

"I'm 14," Cassie said. "I'm kinda stuck being Cassie Lang."

"Says who?"

Cassie looked at Pippi like she was crazy. "The government?"

"You were named by the Government?"

"No, but since I'm a minor my mom gets to make stupid decisions about me and stuff, and I can't just pretend I'm someone else when all my school records say who I am?" Cassie said.

"But you won't be in school forever."

"...well yeah," Cassie said. "But it's kinda dumb to talk about 'hey, you can do this in four years', since it doesn't change now."

"I don't think so." Pippi said tilting her head. "No time like the present to start thinking about such things. And besides, if people are against it, who's to say what will happen in four years. I mean... A lot can happen in even a week, or a day and four years is like... Considerably longer."

"You do realize you're just making me more depressed, right?" Cassie said.

"... Sorry." Pippi said. "What would you rather talk about?"

"I... think I'm just gonna ask the teacher about my situation," Cassie said.

"Probably for the best."
